Screamer ADSL

Afrihost is great. Browsing is much more responsive that Screamer, and downloading goes at 100% of the line speed, assuming the server you're downloading from can provide that speed. I would definitely recommend Afrihost. And the cost is only marginally more expensive, at R29/GB.

My HTTP is usable ATM. Unlike the weekend. Just FAIL all around then.

Both the speed tests are decent.

Well,

Downloading was going at almost full speed on the w/e except for the occasional slow down... now? 10-15kb again. Really getting annoyed with this. The people on OpenWeb for R499 a month are laughing at us... and they have 384 lines.

Starting to get a bit annoyed at all this, S P has gone AWOL, howzit hasn't posted in ages... hopefully they playing with their wires. *s*******

Well this is just wonderful...
Does anybody know if there's a reason why I can't access Rapidshare all of a sudden?

What the hell does this error message mean exactly?

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://www.rapidshare.com/

The following error was encountered:

Unable to determine IP address from host name for www.rapidshare.com

Yip cant say my experince has been a good one, I have had more downtime than I did last month and more surfing availability, I see Sainet is R50 more expensive... never heard of em, are they new? Are they having any problems? I am strongly considering moving end of this month....but I see the uncapped service will only be available in April 2010 according to the website?

As for Howzit & SP from screamer... would be nice of you guys at screamer to answer some of these questions let alone the phones, leaving us in the dark is only making matters worse... and not to mention reputational damage to your brand... bad service spreads fast in this industry..

Bedtime, got a lotof work to do this week. Keeping an eye on Screamer. but am DEFINATELY going to explore SAINET, they seem reputable from what i've heard but debit order it is... and an app form. Might even consider Afrihost because of their R14.50 specials... 30GB for a few rand a month

Still waiting for my acc to be activated 1st of March but I read the comments here and decided to pull the plug on Screamer. Sent an email to [email protected] requesting that they do not activate my acc, this morning (15 Feb 2010), and got a reply email just after 6pm confirming that my acc will be deleted end of Feb.

I'm now "screaming" along with an Afrihost connection. Speed is excellent. And with the "Buy one get one free" special, it's dirt cheap.

Also got a reply from Screamer regarding my cancellation. They said it will be processed asap, and that the refund request has been submitted to the accounts department. So let's see if they pull through. At least their reply was very apologetic, so respect for that.

Can anybody help me my downloading is fine but my torrent downloading is like 3-10KB/s i heard it could be my ports being worng but i tryed every thing

Right so it look like subscribing to screamer uncapped dsl at the moment is about a bright as eskom's electricity planning... what would you guys recommend instead?

Well. SAINET is my next option. Either that or afrihost.

Well it seems browsing [http] is fine. But news server which I bought a subscription for @ $10 is so badly shaped it unusable. Why is screamer shaping everything so badly?
