Screamer ADSL

Able to surf (slowly) which doesnt always download the full page making me refresh the page, as for downloading ~ speed are very erratic getting up to 30kb/s for a couple of seconds and then declines sharply to 10kb/s and very slowly start climbing again only to fall again... at least I can surf and download for a change which good.. but still not good enough if I compare it to my telkom accounts its still way to slow... come on screamer raise your game!
 
Got a call yesterday from tech at Screamer, can't for the life of me remember his name, John? Anyway, asked me what issues i am having etc etc and i told him about utorrent, singular downloads and not being able to browse, he advised that they are really trying to sort the issue out but you know, 5 months and still having issues and signing up new customers is just not acceptable in my opinion. Got my refund confirmation to so that email will have to be kept in the archives until i actually get my refund. Browsing with Screamer, account STILL not cancelled. Signed up with SAINET yesterday. No a/c no or username just yet but i will let you know on the SAINET page how it is goes.

my browsing is crappy slow
my news server downloads are ****ty slow

what the heck is happening here?
 
Got cancellation confirmation on Monday. Screamer account still works. But SLOOOWLY... I switched to Afrihost and torrents went from 1-2KB/s to 20K+. I will be moving over to SAOL as from next month. I don't mind switching my line at all. As long as I get a proper service. I don't mind paying a bit more either, as I run a business from home and would rather have a connection that works, than one where I'm hoping that it will work and praying that it'll speed up.
 
A bunch of cancellations to deal with then.

Sounds like we could be in for a bit of a wait...
 
Is anyone else experiencing a problem with SLOWWW internet today?? I cant wait to get away from screamer, they are pathetic.... SOOOO many problems.
 
does anyone have an smtp server that works with screamer?? i was using telkom's smtp server uptil yesterday until i got an error message.

Seems the current users who are experiencing any problems are washed off Screamers back like water off a ducks back. Notice how Ned replies to the smtp issue but everything else get's left for the users to battle with.

We all know the speeds have been bad today, inconsistent to say the least.

/ignore all current users.

Hope my SAINET a/c comes on Monday :D
 
Inconsistent speed issues

Just an update of what is going on to improve on the service delivery. We have been having issues with the physical connectivity to the upstream providers, this will be a thing of the past as we are moving the DSL service to the Upstream data centre. Just waiting for final date for the ATM to be moved (Expecting this within the next two weeks) this will assist with stabilising the inconsistent speed related issues.

Torrents are still unfortunately not the highest on the priority list during congestion times.

Fair enough, thanks for the update! Is there anything one can do to minimize the effect of running torrents in the background (though I suspect the answer is to pause them all together)?
 
I've been with Screamer for all of 2 days and I am ready to cancel my account.

I am on a 384 kb/s line, yet the fastest download speeds I have been able to manage was 12kb/s and my average was 6kb/s. I might as well go back to dial-up then.

I guess this is what is meant by low cos, poor service huh?
 
We are working on it, can't provide a definate date but we understand sooner rather than later.
 
S P, I have been having the same problems as pyrokinetix.
Ticket number 199 564, speed improved to 20kbps for an hour around 12, but otherwise between 3 and 12 all day.
 
Ok, i think this will be my last update on this post.

May i give some advice... I was with Screamer (And still probably am because they take an eternity to do anything) and moved to SAINET, what an absolute pleasure. For R50 more, i got 1.5GB (with about 6 hours give or take a bit of nothing downloading) in 11 hours.

The speedtest said .85mb download on my 512k line, that's the fastest I've ever seen. Just do yourselves a favour, cancel the a/c, when Screamer comes right, join again if you see good posts on this forum. It seems to me to be 'that simple'

I just hope my SAINET a/c lives up to what it's supposed to do.
