Screamer WiMax

Strangely it seem to happen when there was a storm or rain???:D

Anyone who ever said Wimax is not affected by storms is mistaken...
I'm pretty much guarenteed that when my DSTV is down due to the weather, my Wimax will be too.

My DSTV is out right at this moment, in the middle of a hail storm. WiMAX is working fine.

--- google.com ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 10 received, 0% packet loss, time 91ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 233.827/240.493/248.836/4.842 ms, pipe 10

I'm seeing 2% packetloss with Neotel upstream and was seeing 10% loss with Telkom. However, pings within the Screamer network are close to 0% packet loss.

I am at a loss .....

This weekend been really good, I did not have any disconnects at all. Was wondering if other spotted this as well?

I haven't had a disconnect since I started discarding the TCP RSTs - so couldn't say.

However, packet-loss on Neotel was unacceptably high (2-4%)

Got my Wimax this Sunday...

All seems well... except for 2 things... I can't belive that my latency should be so high... playing L4D2 in SA I get a latency of 150ms+- and playing... WoW... now thats another story... getting 1500ms+... was on 6000ms last night... so I guess i'm not making any raiding rosters...

Arrgg...

Anyone know if I could improve this somehow? or would this be on Screamers doorstep...

I think most of Screamers problems are upstream.

Dunno why theyre still battling with it as so many WOers have been bitching about it for so long now.:D

Ping internally within their network (for example 172.17.0.10; should be around 40ms) and then externally (for example Google) and you will see where the problems are. Also take notice of the difference in packetloss.

I am convinced that there is a capacity issue upstream or at the boundary of the two networks.

I have given up on playing Wow lately (esp 25 man raids) as I have been experiencing latency between 1000ms and 2000ms, which again points to a combination of capacity and packetloss.

Hi.

Got my Screamer WiMax today. As Promised must say can't remember when last This happened.

1 Meg Line.. time 17.50pm Area: Primrose Hill.

2% international packet-loss tonight - against my better judgement I joined a 25-man instance tonight .... mistake.

Seems like the problem is Neotel (based on their forum) ..... still .... I don't pay Neotel and nobody at Screamer even acknowledges the problem.
