working fine for me in the IS backbone.

This morning (9am on Sun 25th) most MWeb international traffic still routing via AS6453 (Tata), so either the SEA-ME-WE 4 cable is still being worked on, or MWeb bought a fixed duration (day/week/month) alternative contract?

Google is currently routed via SAT3, and that link is probably a bit congested. (MWeb traffic to Google and Youtube went via SEACOM until the current outage).

Torrents going full speed right now, never had it so constantly. I think Mweb should rather keep using this Tata line instead of Seacom

The maintenance has not yet started. It was delayed due to bad weather. We are expecting it to begin shortly.

I think you spoke to soon! It wasn't down earlier, and now its really slow on most international routes....

The only route thats working for me is the US West Coast via Tokyo (475ms).

Seacom maintenance started at about 14:10 and is ongoing. Depending on the kind of backup infrastructure your ISP has you may see symptoms ranging from increased latency right through to completely inaccessible international content.

An interesting example of how extreme things can get is this tracert for the Milnerton (Cape Town) webcam, hosted in Europe.

The traffic goes round the entire Northern Hemisphere, in 29 hops!
