SEACOM downtime expected over the weekend

Whilst your point about service levels is probably true, why didn't you choose an ISP with proper redundant connectivity to the world?

As already pointed out, the SEACOM outage started at 14:00 today, for the reasons given below.

Also, your tone suggests that you are confusing that nice lady at the call centre who has no idea what you are talking about with the highly skilled crew of a cable repair ship, who have been battling a storm in the Mediterranean since early Saturday, and only managed to get a break in the weather this afternoon so that they could haul up the damaged cable, and repair it as fast as humanly possible, all so that you can sit in your underwear surfing over the weekend. Geniuses? Maybe yes.

Huh?? You may want to run this through a fact checker. SEACOM has been down exactly once since it was switched on - today, for the last 7 hours. FWIW, it's not even the whole of SEACOM that's down. Much of the international traffic that you are seeing flowing (including, for example, all of M-Web's uncapped traffic) is currently being carried over SEACOM from India.

hmmm, was there not another full saturday or sunday, about 3 weeks ago? My provider is Mweb...they are not using Seacom all that long, or am I mistaken?? Well, I have not seen any advantage yet...still have to use my expensive unshaped package, due to gaming, and have had 2 full weekend days with no internet due to maintenance... is it a surprise that a few people are sceptical about this developments?
So far the only ones that are smiling are the ones that download, for that you just run it and do other things in the meantime. i want to use my bandwidth directly and in my freetime (weekends...)
 
I just dont understand why people are moaning. We were warned that there was a maintenance scheduled, which could possibly affect our internetz today and yet people are still complaining like little babies! ffs! grow up! So your internetz is down for 1 day big deal! Let them do their jobs and repair the cable. Just shut the hell up and live with it. Go watch a movie! or go have a few beers and drive home! I dont care, but for goodness sakes, can we please just move on!

Edit: Im also sitting in my underwear with a slow internet connection, but do you see me cry like a little moron about it!? NO! ffs!
 
It would appear that some people don't have lives if they can't do without their international for a few hours on a weekend.

Then why do you have Mweb Uncapped :/ I think WebAfrica will gladly welcome you...or anyone for that matter right now.

they failed to fix it, thats if it was broken in the first place!
 
Yip, my uncapped express (and that does not even use seacom), has been down for 16 hours now. Went to bed last night hoping, this morning got a big blank stare from my pc

Same here... It's quite disappointing that I didn't receive any warning from my ISP (Axxess) about this. Pretty sure I won't get any form of apology either when it eventually does come back.
 
what happens after you make payment, is not important, lets see if it returns to normal at 8am

I use axxess and have a new express account which is down, however I still have a regular shaped account which I have just switched to at that works internationally without problems So appears that maybe not just a SEACOM problem more an axxess issue
 
Some much for weekend downtime. I still got no international access on a 3Gb IS account.
 
My Axxess Express is also down and my Axxess Shaped account, all international DEAD !!!

Was actually on this morning then just __--POOF--__ gone.
