A couple of months ago I read that Seacom were investigating the cause of the repeater failure that caused their latest outage. I also saw that they were hoping to secure connectivity through the Red Sea and across Egypt "by September".
Does anyone have an update on
* the cause of the repeater problem - there are a lot of repeaters on the Seacom system, so it would be good to know what went wrong and whether its likely to happen again.
* the status of the 'direct' connectivity to Europe. Currently latency on Seacom is pretty high, particularly now that there is an alternative - I saw that EASSY went live a couple of months ago. When will traffic stop being routed via India and start going direct?
Thanks.
