SEACOM problems may be resolved soon

i just hope to god that this connection is up from 12am this or tomorrow evening... eg. tonight, at 12 midnight!!!!!
i dont think i can last much longer

Is there any confirmed reports from SEACOM regarding the midnight fix (if you can call it that), haven't seen or heard anything from them since their initial statement about maybe being up and running come midnight

Well the last thing they said was:
UPDATE - SEACOM network disturbances due to ongoing SEA-ME-WE 4 repair work expected to be resolved today (28 April 2010)

The latest notification received from SEA-ME-WE 4 indicates that the repair work on the SEA-ME-WE 4 cable is expected to be completed by 22.00 (UTC) on 28 April 2010.

SEACOM will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

I hope it's a good sign that they haven't reported any further delays...

My adsl modem is doing strange things, lights keep flickering randomly every few seconds, then it stops for a few minutes, then starts again. Someones definitely doing something somewhere!

I think a celebratory drink is in order if Seacom gets activated tonight.

Is it just me or are speeds improving? Using Afrihost with no proxy settings and mail finally coming in...

Yep, performance is definitely on the up. I'm on a WA account and although it worked, it was hardly what one could call exceptionally speedy, but now it's pretty much back to normal.

Unlikely to be SEACOM/WHATEVER more lokely TELKOM or wind whistling in wires:)

The PPP light on my router is off, I'm presuming its the same for other people or do I have another problem all together?

unfortunatly thats not it, my routers light has been doing that for about 3- 4years!!!

sometimes 10-15 times in one day, its damn annoying cos its like someone has pulled the plug!!!

I'm having HUGE ping spikes using MWEB. Starts off at around 45 and then jumps to 800 or 1000!!!!

Yup, from Seacom: Good news! Repairs to SEA-ME-WE 4 cable successfully completed – Final traffic restoration taking place this morning. We just received news that SEACOM customers are already restored & we expect traffic to be restored by mid-morning GMT

Running full speed on my 4MB line.

Wait ... that means I need to go to work soon ... Damn you !!!
