Sensor dust?

I'm going to try mapping it out first and see how that works. The idea of touching the sensor (or the glass in front of it at least) gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Does a great job.
The sensor is covered with a piece of glass, so you can't really damage it.
P.S. The dust blowers don't work at all. All they did was blow more dust onto the sensor. The brush was the only thing that worked.

You should get yourself a cellphone with a decent camera... then you wouldn't have these issues!

I spotted this dark spot last night and of course now that I've seen it I just keep looking for it (ignorance was bliss). I think it's sensor dust

Er... it's a light in the background... There's a whole row of them back there. If you blow it up large enough you can even see the pole.

Do you mean the smudge? I can't figure out if it's something on the sensor or just part of the cloud patterns. The dot is definitely a light - you can see the lamp post under it. Post a 100% crop maybe?
Does the 400D have the sensor shaker? Seems to work pretty well on the 40D.
I'm talking about the grey blur inside centre of the white ring. I've just updated the dust data so we'll see if that helps. It seems to be holding on despite the sensor shaker.

Take a photo of a (clean) white wall with good lighting.
Not much point in looking for smudges in pic that is full of clouds & dust anyway.

Since I know what I'm looking for I can see it on most of the images from that camera - its definitely something to do with the sensor.
