Ok I've had it. Tried installing and uninstalling three different versions of Windows XP service pack 3 and on none of then my internet works. i have now decided not to use it because believe me, I have tried many different things and many different hotfixes/support sites etcetcetc to try and get my damn internet working. I have even phoned microsoft who then told me it was a problem with my ISP which is complete CRAP, because with sp2 it works perfectly.....

So sp3 can go sit in a gutter.

It's probably something to do with my computer because not many other people seem to have the same problem as me.

But still, Microsoft should sort it out instead of employing dumbass technicians that tell you it's your isp's fault.

Proof at last that not everything microsoft do is bad... MS FTW!

I had the same problem.
If it is the same as mine (which is likely) your router stopped automatically assigning a DNS server address when SP3 was installed. I just changed it to assign it manually to 10.0.0.1 (I think it was that) somewhere in the network settings and it was working again.
Whats your router? Mega 100WR?

Yes it is that router. I did check ipconfig /all though and it had assigned me an ip address.

Code:
ipconfig /all
That may reveal bad (or no) DNS settings. Set them to 10.0.0.2 and it'll work

Edit:
Another test:
Code:
ping 74.125.95.147
If the ping is successful, it is DNS that is your issue (try browse to http://74.125.95.147)

@The_Techie: Can we please sticky that? It comes up all the time... Telkom router + SP3 = DNS issues

IP address != DNS settings.

The IP address is the unique address on your network assigned to your computer. The DNS settings are what your computer uses to translate www.google.co.za to 74.125.95.147

+1 for assigning 10.0.0.2 as dns. I work in a support environment and this is quite a common issue after installing SP3
