Sexuality a choice?

I read a report on News 24 this morning that Kylie Minogue is considering becoming a lesbian.

My questions are: Is there really a choice or are you born to be who you are?

Why, after being straight for 30 or 40 years, suddenly change your sexual preference?

It is not my intention to discriminate against anyone by asking these questions.:confused:

Well there is a theory that its not black and white but rather shades of grey

IOW: People are not 100% homosexual nor Hetrosexual, we are all to some degree bisexual.

I also think that a lot of people do it for attention.
 
Well I've dated a girl that swings both ways, maybe Kylie just decided to swing one direction.
 
I say its pure choice, dont think you're even aware that you make that choice sometimes but i'm certain its choice. I can be attracted to young woman or older if i so choose why could that choice not transend gender borders??
Humans are 2 intellegent a creature for it not to be a choice, they can even choose to take hormones to affect their thoughts if they so wish!! We are astonishing beings i tell ya!
 
Dunno.

What I do know is that gays will have a much better chance of being accepted socially if it was for BS like this.

It is the old question of nature versus nurture, for which there is no definitive answer.

I personally think one could either be born with a predisposition to be gay, or one's sexual preferences could be shaped during the formative years.

I don't however think it is a choice such as e.g. the choice of career, etc. It is much more subconscious than that.

Agreed. But in Kylie Minogue's case I'm sure its more a case of attention seeking :p
