EDIT - this is actually a very good service if you use it as intended. See my third attempt for feedback.
I recently decided to import a used CPU that I brought on eBay in the USA. This is not the first time I have done this, I have brought many things on eBay from all over the world (USA, UK, Germany, Singapore, etc) and have it deliver to my door with Aramex Global Shopper (no problems).
However since I saw an ad for Ship7 that claims it is tax free, cheap and fast I decided to give a try and see how it compares to AGS.
--- it is terrible ---
I paid for my CPU exactly one week ago and I had a choice of two delivery addresses in the USA, one in New Jersey and the tax free one in Delaware. So I opted for the later.
Three days ago I was notified by Ship7 that my parcel arrived and I needed to specify the value - a bit odd for a tax free service - but they claim it is so they know the value in case it gets lost or damaged. At this stage I was unable to request that my item gets shipped out. After enquiring about it I was told that :
"When you choose the DE warehouse you will have to wait for 3 working days to ship your packages. because we don't have a ship out or operation team at this address to ship or repack the packages on the same day in DE so we are using it only for receiving the packages all ship-outs out and operations are done in the NJ warehouse. So we ship the packages from DE to NJ twice a week. This is the reason your packages is currently stopped for shipping."
So finally today I could select the option to have my order shipped and the cheapest service is Aramex, coming in at a whopping R440! To put this into perspective, in April I paid R230 to have a motherboard shipped from New York using Aramex Global Shopper. Now I am paying R440 for a freaking CPU!!!
I'll give an update later on how things progress and whether this actually is a tax free service - but all I can say thus far is avoid Ship7!
