Shock-Plan for Gauteng Schools

Its all good and well to merge the schools because someone thinks its a great way to get kids to mingle .... but, the parents have a choice, and its likely that some kids will be moved to schools deemed more appropriate by the parents for whatever reason.

My mate put his daughters into a co-ed school. The boys of another race kept on making lewd and suggestive comments to the girls, he ended up moving them. Today that school has probably 90% of one race group, while the kids of the other race have moved off to private schools ....
When he spoke to the school about this, it was put down to cultural differences ... this was probably easier than having a race row.

And I am sure this is happening all over SA .... It may not be what we want to hear in the Noooo South Africa, but its one of things we are going to have accept at some point ...
We all have our unique cultures and the culture of the majority in an institution can either make it - or break it.
 
What an idiotic idea.. jeez. Only one reason I can think, getting their hands into the cookie jar of rich schools.
 
How lame. Have they ever been to an english or dual medium school in the suburbs? People from all over and race is about the least worrying issue.
 
In the end the main difference between a rich school and a poor school is the quality of teachers . It's quite obvious the poorer/rural schools simply lack good, educated teachers and they want a way to tap into teachers in the richer schools. Basically because the education department is too incompetent to recruit, train and pay teachers to do a proper job instead of making the kids pregnant, they want to go the typical communist/socialist route of "distributing" the already dwindling wealth.

Although, i must add, there is also a reason i don't read Beeld or any of the afrikaans news papers, they are constantly very alarmist , chances are this thing will either take years to implement or will simply turn out to be a partnership whereby resources are shared (i.e. teachers in richer schools going to poorer schools once a week to do some form of "community service") .

The education dept is also forgetting that teachers is heavily underpaid, and even in "richer" schools it is already a minefield to work in, adding even more of these kind of stress on good teachers will simply have them leave the school teaching entirely and do home/private schooling....and that will be a loss to everyone. So i hope the govt. people that keeps spouting all this crap do realise there are a very finite amount of resources to "distribute" and they will lose the better part of it, and just like with communism in general, get stuck with the lowest denominator (weakest performers).

The end result will not be uplifting a poor school to the level of the richer school, but rather the richer school downgrading to the level of the poorer school....

Useless just useless. Why can't fekkin Africans just get off there useless asses and help themselves? Politically uncorrect? I know. Till somebody explains this to these idiots... Oh well they are too stupid, lazy to figure it out. Africa is a consumer never a producer.

I don't know hey... I was in a normal government school and we had excellent teachers, good discipline, a strong headmaster. My mom works at possibly the 'best' afrikaans school in Pretoria and the stories you hear from that place are scary... The problem isn't only in the schools - its a social problem. I can understand that the government is trying to help those who are less privileged but they need to look to the home situation first before trying to change the school system.

My wife is a teacher (school is now almost 99% black pupils). She told me , you can see most of the kids parents don't care. Home situation is bad, parent's are not worried. Homework doesn't get done etc... and nobody cares.

Fix the home problem first...

And its not only the black kids. A lot of white moms work full time and don't check that children eat properly (they just get tuck shop money)that they do their homework, that they actually go to school etc. Then there's the problem of children having children and then care even less about kids when partying is higher priority. The home set - up isn't what it used to be. There are people who can't afford to take care of their children properly and there are those who can afford it but don't really care.
