I have a MSI G41 board that is 1 year and 6 months old.
It has been giving me intermittant issues for 3 months now. Somedays it doesn't start up, pick up drives or it simply just freezes every few seconds.

I sent it to the supplier and they found no fault - its hard to prove since its intermittant.

I've tested cables, PSU, GPU and RAM and it still does the same. How can I just damage the board so they swap it out since warranty is almost up.
 
I would avoid 2.

What would happen if you stuck it in a microwave for a few seconds?

Just to add that i would probably do the same thing in your situation as I've lost out before in similar circumstances.

Probably nothing much.

OP, send it back to the supplier and ask to speak to a manager and get it sorted out. Where'd you buy the board from?
 
Prophecy? You should mention them. We all want to know about service from all the suppliers, just to give us a heads-up. They should replace it, tell them it is still not working and that you want it replaced. Don't take nonsense, you're the customer, they should help you when there are problems with products you bought from them.

There are a few guides on the net which will show you step by step how to check faults. Did you check the temperatures of your CPU and GPU? Something similar happened to me waaaayyy back (2004 I think?) my CPU cooler wasn't fully connected to the mobo and thus the temps were high and it kept on freezing for a few seconds before flipping on me.

I'll try and reseat everything in your case, if I were you, probably has about 5% chance of solving the issue, and probably the easiest to do (always a good time to clean up the case and recable as well :P )
 
I have ran speccy to see temps and also other temp monitors. The PC is not overheating. All components are seated properly
 
No, Robert's right about the fault being intermittent. I sold a number of MSI G41 boards in 2010 and about ten of them had to be sent back because of chipset issues and dropping SATA ports. It might not be the same board revision as his, but towards the end of LGA775's life there were manufacturers who were being a bit sloppy. I had two boards with audio problems, three dropped SATA drives on a reboot and the rest would just freeze once you started a copy process from one drive to the other.

Rob, start the RMA process again with the supplier, but this time phone them and ask to speak to a manager. Which supplier was it? I still have a few contacts left from when I was working in retail.
