Just cancelled my ShowMax account

1. Still no windows, xbox or ps apps.
2. Still have BS artificial "registered" device limit. Which I just reach plugging in new Intel Compute Stick.
3. Still no support for all browsers. i.e. Edge. I might get flamed for ranting that there is no support for Edge. But I have low power compute stick for TV usage. Firefox and Chrome crashes after about 10 minutes - seems they need a bit more horsepower. On Edge I can watch Netflix no problem, but since ShowMax does not work on Edge.

They can shove their crap service.

Rant over.

Or Roku Apps.

And their Android app does not support downloading on microSD, which is a problem with the newer memory crippled Android devices.

I assume they're on Apple TV, so I'm covered there. What I won't put up with is 720p quality. I'll give them a try when they support 1080p.

Yes, I believe they have Apple TV app - which is cool. However in my friends circle I think a 1/4 or less have Apple TV, most - if not all - have either PS or Xbox already hooked up to entertainment systems, now if one extrapolates that one can argue there are a lot more people with these devices than something like Apple TV. So why the hell after how many months of them being live, don't they have apps for xbox and ps?

From their website:

Which Apple devices are supported?
Apple iPhones and iPads running iOS 8.4 or higher
Apple TV (4th Generation)
Apple TV (2nd, 3rd and 4th Generation) via AirPlay

Application availability may vary from country to country.

Thanks. I have the latest Apple TV.

Doesn't it work in IE? Also fail to see how Firefox will require more horsepower then Edge rather the Intel Compute Stick is a POS.

Lol everything works via airplay.

To be honest, I have not tried IE.

True, the ICS is cheap POS, however Edge works better on it - in the sense it does not crash.

Also want to add the Netflix app (windows 10) works flawlessly on it, I am generally very happy with the ICS (considering what it is) it does every I want it to except no solution for ShowMax.

Can anyone confirm that ^

I can confirm but only on TvOS. Still limited to 720p and no Dolby digital. So not bad but not as good as Netflix

Works through AirPlay on older Apple TV from iPad

I cancelled after one month. Streaming was on and off. Netflix on the otherhand much better.

Add...

1. Still no 5.1 Surround Sound.

2. No subtitles.

Also not renewing after my six months are up.

You could try Slimjet which is a stripped down version of Chrome. I think Netflix works provided you install the necessary DRM plugins so may also support ShowMax.

Showmax has serious buffering issues, was with them for 6 months and kept experiencing problems... Switched to Netflix and boom all my problems sorted!!! Won't sign up with them again

Showmax is now peering at napafrica jhb. Might sort out the buffering issues.

I love em... much better than metflix sa and i airplay from my iPhone or ipad to apple tv.

Also love the download for later features

They offer 1080i via DStv explorer . . .

ShowMax on DStv Explora allows you to stream content in either SD or HD resolution. SD content is 576i, (633MB per hour) while HD content is 1080i (2.2GB per hour).
