Sign a warning letter?

Don't know if this helps in any way - will mention it regardless, but a friend was in a similar situation. A new manager joined the company he was at, and essentially became his boss. They just didn't click and she took a disliking towards him, and he didn't think much of her either.

She used to bitch him out a lot, he got a warnings etc. Decided he couldn't take the crap anymore, so he sent in his resignation letter. Unknown to him, he was quite valued there as an employee and when the top bosses got wind of him wanting to leave, they brought him in to find out why - if there was a problem. So he told them about all the issues etc. Long story short, they dismissed her and then begged an pleaded for him to stay.

Thing is...there is always someone higher up the chain. The problem is, if everyone essentially is against you...well that's a different story unfortunately :(

great end to the story :D

Unless its a small company and the GM is the owner, then.....

If everybody is against you, then you are playing life on Hard Mode. It makes it all the more satisfying when you stomp them.

I'm waiting till 27th August.

The only one against me is the new one ; the other is neutral (though, she may influence him) and the last for me. The sales manager - although not as much clout, is also for me - as are partners, AMs and pretty anyone else.

When this all started, I didn't even report to the one that didn't like me. However, got a notification a few days back that now she is my manager ...

So my informal chat is this afternoon. Trying to pre-emp a few situations.

Any ideas?

1. Warnings stand
2. Warnings overturned
3. We offer you x months to leave

In 3 particularity, no need to answer there an then? So shouldn't agree or sign anything today at all?

IIRC it is a *conciliation meeting and not an enquiry so there should be nothing to sign in terms of "discipline".

*according to your company

If it turns out to be a disciplinary enquiry then tell the chairperson immediately that you have been misinformed as to the intention and scope of the meeting and that you have not been given any notice of a disciplinary enquiry, which makes any further steps procedurally unfair per the Labour Relations Act.

Thanks Micky.

So assuming conciliation meeting, there is no outcome other than helping the situation before it gets worse?

Correct. The mediator should also propose a way forward that benefits the company, who he is ultimately representing at the meeting.

He should give all parties (you, the GM and the company) an opportunity to put forward your views. Be factual, stay cool and ask for a body break if you need time to compose your thoughts.

Make notes and remember to counter all the things she alleges that is not already covered in your statement...

And to answer your other question no you dont have to sign anything other than attendance and acknowledgment of receiving something everything else you can say you want to give it some thought first.

Good luck man, keep it formal and factual don't go into emotions. Ask for the email she never could prove for instance.

If she gets emotional you will have the upperhand. Keep us posted.
