Skyrim

for any of those peeps that would like a bit more preformance out of skyrim here is a tutorial on how to get skyrim to use more then 2gigs ram apperently it can only use up to 2gigs atm

Download and install CFF Explorer. http://www.ntcore.com/exsuite.php
Make a backup of your original exe just in case something goes wrong.
Run CFF Explorer.
Click the folder icon or go to File -> Open and browse your PC for TESV.exe.

Click on File Header at the left, find Characteristics at the right, and click the Click here blue button.

Tick App can handle >2GB address space.

Click OK.
Save by clicking the disk icon or going to 'File -> Save.

Overwrite the file when it asks you to.

NOTE: If you use this method, you need to keep the backup of the exe file you changed with CFF Explorer.
When you update your game, you will need to copy the backup exe back to folder and replace the edited exe file.

Go to the folder which has the executable file you changed.
Delete the current *.exe file.
Rename the backup executable back to the original name, now you can safely update/upgrade.

WTF!?

That sucks... I'd really like to try make it go faster but I don't like messing with exe files. Won't steam prevent you from starting the game anyway?

Just to add as well. Check this link. Apparently disabling the 360 controller option on the windows version of the game increases performance.

Anyone playing straight dual-wield Warrior? I'm currently lvl 9 or so..and while it's very satisfying bashing skulls in on normal NPCs, I find it VERY hard to fight mini-bosses. Especially mage types. This one bloke (Vulkan I think) basically 2 shotted me with firebolts. Finally managed to kill him like a coward...after like 1 hour of struggling :(

I don't even want to know how a dragon is gonna piets me.

Tips appreciated

Don't worry, when i started out as a dual wield Redguard I got the impression that my character was somehow under-powered but if you persevere things start getting good at about level 14. I think it's the skills that you unlock in the one-handed skill tree that start turning your character into a dual wielding murder factory.

Love how everyone is keeping spoilers out of immediate reach of children, that's really great guys :)

As for me, I'm inspired to go and try Mzuleft or whatever its called again.
And personally, dragons don't impress me much. One jumped me in Winterhold. Literally landed in the central courtyard. It was severely pwned by about 5 seriously annoyed mages :)

I broke my head with the Mzuleft reflection puzzle. Turned out to be a bug :'( Quick reload prior to entering the room and done in 5 min :)

Anyone got any great physics bug stories?

I was fighting some Forsaken and hit one down to a silver of health. She turned to flee and I hit her in the back, causing her to fly like a cricket ball, then bounce off the top of a pallisade and loop high into the air.

Just bought it and played for a few hours, completely hooked. Had to wrestle with the steam install a bit and with Nvidia's Optimus to get it working right on my laptop, but this game is going to take up looots of my time :D

This game is flipping dangerous. i've lost 2 full evenings to it..

Loving it though, lvl 8 now, just joined the companions :D destroyign stuff with my magix. Giants? pfft no problem. Mammoths? Pfft no problem (only when i stand in the water and they dont come in ^_^). Sabertooths - dead in 3 shots.
I just wanna progress faster but faster != better in this game

Travel by riverstream seems to be the safest for me. It was quite a run/swim for someone who didnt know that there awaits carriages to take you to other cities. :p

Anyone going down the conjuration path? I seem to have trouble casting my flame astronach when wearing light armor. Cant remember if there is any penalties for wearing armor in Skyrim, although Oblivion did have some. Anyone knowledge/experiences to share regarding that?

I did minor conjuration, bought flame atronach and conjure sword. I just found it a bit pointless and VERY makica consuming so i ditched it. My Flame atronach cast every time (wearing novice hood, novice robe, iron gauntlets + feet), make sure you pointing to an open spot on the ground - when the xhair is not red :)

I'm Going destruction + Restoration now --- Power damage and Power keeping alive power haha.

Speed/weight/noise, Light Armor has less penalties than Heavy - but with the right perks both become better

my gripe I have about this game is the quest line I did last night. not really a gripe, more just a question...

I had to visit this oak in jail and steal a horse and some papers. I didnt really WANNA steal ANYTHING coz Im a good citizen and not a thief. Turns out that you cant turn down the quest, so you HAVE to go steal stuff :erm:

did it anyway and rode the horse into the middle of the woods where another okey was waiting.... We were attacked though, of course! Had to lol when then horse decided to attack the mage as well lol :)

other than that, Im leveling my BS'ing like a mad man... Think Im up to about 60/65 now. I also got my house for 5k ****

Im a one handed weapon (mainly mace) and destruction in the other hand.

my one hand and destruction skills are waaaay lower than my BS'ing. How can I get them higher quicker?

Cheers

edit : oh and if you press ALT your hero does a sprint :o

Anyone got some tips for increasing inventory space? Over-encumbered every 5-10minutes is annoying.

Dual wield 1h for faster skill ups, and do the same with destruction?

I also got my house for 5k ****

I was wondering...any advantages to actually buying a house? I'm currently 'living' in some tower where I killed a dragon and it seems perfectly fine, I fast travel there, store my stuff, sleep etc etc. What more can this house for 5k do?

Buy a house (5000 gold) (to store everything without it getting stolen)

Every 'point' in stamina increases Carrying Capacity by 5

Theres a perk in Pickpocket IIRC that gives +100 space

Benefits of Home-Owning

Owning a house comes with several benefits. You must be approved by the local Jarl of each major city, then a home can be purchased and decorated by the Steward.
Each house includes non-respawning containers where items can be safely stored.
Sleeping in a bed you own gives a temporary boost to your Health and Magicka.
If married, your spouse will wait for you in your house.
There is no limit to the amount of houses you can own.
