Skyworth Binge TV Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Hi, for the one using the box, is it on Android 8.0 or 7.0 ?

Still can't see the USB drive even though it's now FAT32. It says unsupported device. Also can't format it through the box.

That is strange. If you have some familiarity with adb and can get me a logcat dump I can get an analysis from our team to see why. If you are willing, please drop me a DM.

But is it something you guys would pursue in terms of submitting your box for Certification?

4K Netflix support would make this device a pretty much must have for me... right now its a bit more of a tough sell...

I played a little last night and was able to load Chrome as well as Terrarium tv and Netflix...

All functional. No issues.

Enabled Developer debugging and that was about all.

Have issue with HDMI Sound Pass Through when i start up but a little playing around under the sound settings on the main android settings side and it starts to work.

Great Box so far...Definitely fast enough to drive all the apps downloaded so far....

What settings did you change and what app are you using to test? I've tried everything with no success.

Can you please give me a step by step guide on how to load chrome and terrarium. I have tried but no joy

You don't need Chrome, you can use Puffin TV to browse the web - download from playstore.

Terrarium tv can be downloaded from https://terrarium-tv.en.uptodown.com/android - you can type "terrarium tv" in puffin tv and select the first link and download from there.

once you start downloading Terrarium TV, go to start page of puffin tv and scroll down to downloads(Apk will be there) - select the apk to install, a pop-up will appear to allow puffin tv to install the apk - select puffin tv.

Unfortunately it is not as simple as submitting the box to Netflix. For further information about this process and Netflix, we recommend you contact Netflix.

Sideloading works fine, but is not officially supported. Glad it is working well for you though!

We note that while Chrome is not available in the Google Play Store from the box, it is if you remotely install it from your PC through the Play Store website, or you can ask your box to "Open Chrome", and it pops up a link. Some websites may not be well optimised for a RCU and require a mouse. Some streaming services may work from within Chrome, but your mileage may vary.

Just more asking if its something that you guys will pursue if its possible?

We are already in discussions with Netflix and are releasing boxes which are Netflix approved in other markets. We can't comment on Netflix's policy in Africa at this stage although we are continuing discussions with them.

As for this box, I would not bank on Netflix support, although that is up to them.
