Hi,

I know the thread title sounds a bit crazy, but is anyone encountering slow internet connectivity around 6 pm.

I'm on 8Mbps ADSL. My line is with Webafrica (but actually Openserve), data with Vox/Afrihost (backup).

Line stats:

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12,6 / 19,8
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 16,2 / 27,0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 20,6 / 15,1

Internet works fine all day and around 6pm goes to ****. I've had this issue over a few days now. A few practical examples that I've encountered:

1. Watching Youtube on mobile... everything is loading fine, big healthy video buffer, clock ticks over 6 pm, suddenly videos struggle to load at all, even the thumbnails for video suggestions take forever to load.
2. Browsing grinds to a halt. Trying to load the Vox homepage for over a minute as I type this.

Speedtests:

Vox FP - Run 1Vox FP - Run 2Afrihost - Run 1Afrihost - Run 2
MyBB speedtest on laptop1.00/0.260.39/0.200.38/0.000.64/0.45
MyBB speedtest on cellphone0.02/0.000.00/0.202.34/0.641.18/0.59
speedtest.net on laptop0.28/failure0.11/0.001.41/0.601.07/0.44

I noticed the other thread about Rain going slow after 6pm but they have peak/off-peak hours.

Is there something else that is perhaps getting switched on my line?

Am I just going crazy? :crying:

Sounds like you have congestion on your line. Do a tracert test after 6pm to check for any long hop latency to confirm this. You should request a port upgrade from Telkom if this is the case.
