There has been a movement!
I received a reply to a mail sent this morning at 08:21 and received a non-delivery report for a mail sent at 11:59.
Test message sent to myself at 14:53 arrived at 18:54.

VC should pass a credit if you do not use there mailserver service? :p
Would be less load on there mail server's. ;)

Quite true:) Just last week I created a Gmail account for a work colleague who wanted a personal email account:D

Hi when sending mail via smtp.vodacom.co.za i get this error.

This is the Postfix program at host mx4.vodamail.co.za.

If i change the smtp to a non vodacom secured smtp it works fine.

What would cause this?

Send error with VC 3G connection

Attention - To the Vodacom3g people looking at this information

I am not a PC / mobile connection fundi, but got a VC 3G card about 2 months ago. Works fine for browsing the net and receiving e-mails.
But for about the past month now I cannot send any e-mail. Our IT re-checked all their settings and tried to assist, but are now lending me a MTN 3G USB modem to see if that helps.

I normally only try and use the 3G card when required. Normally have 3G coverage when roaming at home. Also use Outlook 2003 while on VPN.

I've looked at all the work-arounds on Microsoft, but none of that helped. Most of the people at our work use MTN network and have no problems with Outlook via VPN set-up.

If you require additional info about my settings, please let me know.

Send error with VC 3G connection

Hi again,

have been using my 3G datacard overseas the last few days - shared your info a week ago with our IT guys (who were already prepared with their line-of-attack related to Internet APN VPN settings).

All now works like a dream.

Pleeeease give us the name of such an alternate smtp server. That could really help us all!!.:D

Vodacom E-mail server down????

:sick:Why is that the time that you need a service like e-mail, the server goes in the blink.:mad:

Will I still be able to receive the e-mails that have been send to me once the server is restored?

This is costing me a fortune, workers stuck in Dubai and I have to send documents to Emerates Airways in Dubai to confirm their bookings, but due to the e-mail server that does not send or receive anything they have missed their flight back to SA. I have tested both my e-mails on vodacom and none of them is working. Althought Outlook says test is successfully completed, the helpdesk said that nothing came through and have to log the fault and it will take 24 hours.:eek::sick::mad::confused:
 
Andre1 might I suggest you just use Gmail e-mail.
I don't think it's ever been down, it's fast and you have 5GB storage, my god man, why use anything else?!?!?!!? :)

Well I must say after trusting Vodacom since I have joined them, I don't even have to think twice to get a decent e-mail service. This was just the limit for me. This is costing me a fortune to get the people booked on another flight and they will also not be here in time for their work.

So much for vodacom.:mad:
 
It's always good to have 2x e-mails, one is private, the one u always use, but for backup, you have the 2nd, and on the 2nd, you just have your normal signature but a little part that says "please direct all replies to the [email protected]"

But If I was you Andre1, use Gmail and you'll never have to worry again!

I have just setup gmail, but now I can't verify my gmail account because vodacom is still down.

I second that:D

Also, check out Google apps where you can get your own .com website for free. This is also integrated with google mail, docs, calender etc;)
 
If this keeps up, i'm gonna start recommending Vodamail to my customers for personal use rather business use.
