smtp.vodacom.co.za

Is there a way that Vodacom sends email settings for Vodamail to handsets? Like sending GPRS and MMS settings OTA??

I totally agree. Cannot work out why anyone would want to use anything else. You could collect into GMAIL from Vodamail aacount. You can even send mail as if it is from vodamail. It just always works.

I am already setup on GMAIL but that is not the point VC is suppose to provide a service and for all the many thousands of users there are it has to be a top notch service. All the time the other people have had problems I did not have any at all. But since midnight last night my emails still have not arrived at the recipients.

How do I link gmail and Vodacom for email.
I have asked this before but was ignored flat. Is there other smtp server ip/name that we can use that is sitting at the same level as smtp.vodacom?? or will they deny the relay?? I have tried a couple.

Forgive me please but I have to let this out. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR ???.

not the only one with %^%$ SMTP problem's i just got a &^%$ mouth full from my boss saying they did not recive a e-mail i sent at 10 this morning.

Now i am Big *&^% as we have missed a newspaper deadline. I have proff the mail was sent but was never delivered.

Was this done via Vodacoms smtp ????

Try sending yourself an email & see how long it takes to turnaround.

Has anyone reported this to 155? Were they aware of the problem? Did they give an ETA for resolution?

It seems to have been a problem since before 10pm last night.

ya, still waiting for e-mail i sent myself at 12:30 when i noticed the problem.

I did post last night at 11pm that we know about the problem. It was resolved around mid day today.

I dont know if this is related...

If i'm on the LAN, and i ping the smtp servers(vodacom and vodamail) i get "request has timed out" for both, and when i ping the pop server(vodamail) i get responses.

As soon as i go on 3G, the smtp servers seem to give responses, but the pop server gives the time out request.

What gives??? Or am i just stupid? :p

And i'm with Csnoopy on one of his posts where the mail just dissapears. Coz i had a customer just know complaining about the mail. I sent multiple test messages from his laptop to my account, it shows in the Sent Items box, but the mail is just nowhere to be found.

me wonder if VC are queuing the vanished e-mails and they will all be delivered once the mess is sorted out.

if that is the case then one poor sod is going to have 20 new e-mails soon

I sent to two test mails from work to my voda ... one at 10:45 and the other at 15:55. The first came back to me 'undelivered' and the send has vanished :/ It could be delayed - but I haven't got an error on my side nor has it gone through.

You are working via a different DHCP & DNS servers. Pop timeout looks like your link is not routing to the your pop server *huh* they should be on the same backbone. Does that sound right.

Tata for now will be back later.

I am battling with missing emails as well. Just got off the phone with a client. R470 000 contract on the line. Man, was he £$%^&*. Got an account from mighty.co.za and sent it within 10 minutes.

The test email I sent to myself, 10:47 this morning, arrived promptly at 17:00. Now that is service !!!

So last week we had no SMTP, and this week we have SMTP but no real email transmission. At least if the SMTP is off I can call and appologise to my friends and clients.

smtp.vodacom.co.za. APN=internet Dorinkloof Centurion

WOW.
My selftest mails have just arrived so the smtp server is up and running. :D
Tell the system support specialist's (Many) to hold it like that or are they tech's. :D ;). "Excuse me Master the Computer Mechanic's is here to fix your Computers.

Tell him the smtp fell of his bicycle and broke his leg. The mail is not lost it is just delayed. :D ;)

Like smtp.saix.net. For example if you have an ADSL with Telkom you can use smtp.saix.net or smtp.gomail.co.za. The mail.gomail server is on the same backbone as SAIX so it allows mail relay.

Private mailbox is not at Vodacom but gomail.co.za for exampl
Using Vodacom 3Gdialup + pop.gomail.co.za + smtp.gomail.co.za causes relay denied.

Does it make sense.??

I am viewing gmail: Help

Email self test

What is the expected turn around time when sending email via Vodacom smtp going via routers, firewalls, mail marshals etc. ??

It's now been 6 minutes and still not back. Did I get excited to quick??
