smtp.vodacom.co.za

It seems it was a Samsung Z400 and Bluesoil combination that behaved erratic. Connection via data cable solved all problems.

Samsung does not seem to be the best solution when it comes to data. I have had many similar problems with different Samsung models.

Nokia always just works.

Anyways. Thanks for the support.

Vodacom3g - Problems sending mail on 3G connection

Using 3G connection on prepaid, dial *99***1# with username and password blank. On all mails I send I get the following message: "554 <[email protected]>: Recipient address rejected: Policy Rejection- 559 Blacklisted due to illegal HELO or SpamTrap.

Have changed smtp server to smtp.vodacom.co.za, but gets the same message.

UPDATE:
smtp.vodamail.co.za works for my one mail account. GMail is not working - have not changed any settings there - any advice?

Are you using gmail as pop3 acount, i.e. not in browser mode? For pop3 mode, the smtp server for gmail will also be smtp.vodacom.co.za. The rule is basically that you use the smtp server of the network you are authenticated to; in your case, Vodacom. You can retrieve email from any service.

outgoing server for vodacom????

ok i got an axxess email acc that im using on my home PC, decided to store these SMTP and MAIL server settings on my phone and i can only receive mails ... !? ... cant send. Now i called up axxess and they told me to use vodacoms outgoing SMTP server settings ... anyone have these settings? ... do they even exist?

smtp.vodacom.co.za down?

Been working on vodacom 3g most of the day without problem, but the last few hours haven't been able to send mail. smtp.vodacom.co.za also doesn't respond to pings.

My connection is aok. Still receiving e-mails from my office's POP3 server (unfortunately our office's smtp server doesn't allow sending to external addresses from outside the office though) and general web browsing is fast enough.

Got a few mails I must get out. Any ideas welcome (or alternative smtp servers on the vodacom network that I can try).

Never mind, got it through using smtp.vodamail.co.za

smtp.vodacom.co.za still looks like it's down though.

I host a server at POSIX, and for about a week now, haven't been able to receive any mail sent via smtp.vodacom.co.za/smtp.vodamail.co.za!
Please help, as the clients of the domains are getting desperate.

Thanks for the responce:
This was the call I logged:
"Sent: 2007/05/25 11:32:46 AM
To: Vodacom Customer Care
Subject: 3G Mail

Hi

We are an ISP in Pretoria, and for the last week or so none of our clients can receive any mail sent through smtp.vodacom.co.za which is the mail server used by 3G users.

We have checked our SMTP logs on our servers and there is no entry of your SMTP server trying to connect to our servers in an attempt to deliver mail.

One client has received a non delivery report which is attached to this mail, but no other client receives a non-delivery reports, so it looks as if the mail was delivered.

Our server is mx1.uitweb.co.za

We are not experiencing any problems with mail from any other ISP.

If you can attend to this matter very, very urgently."

I received this back:
"Thank you for your email communication to Vodacom.

Kindly be advised we have logged an official query to our Data Division who will investigate and contact you with feedback. The reference number is AW-DPCO-CU17L.

We do apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Should you have any further queries, please contact us via e-mail at [email protected].

Warm Regards

Thanks for the effort, hope to have this problem sorted sooner than later.
Great to know the forums can help.

I'll send you an e-mail addr, mail me a description of what you're seeing with some sample mails. I'll ask the guys to trace the problem.

We did change the IP of the relay about the time your started seeing the problem....might be related.

Vodacom's VAS network is in the 196.11.146.0/24 subnet - it's where all their VAS services sit. Posix has dedicated routing for this subnet.

For some unknown reason, Vodacom started using IP's in this space for their outbound mail servers - thus causing assymetrical routing to take place and traffic going nowhere.

Posix has picked this up and has refined routing to route around Vodacom's quirky mails-server habits.

Hi, assume you're with Posix? Thanks for the feedback.

No 'unknown' reason ;) We did switch to a new IP addr range a week or so ago to remove our relays from the same range as the general 3G user base as part of our spam management policies (And on the advice of this forum!).

Sounds like your routing mask was a bit wider than needed? But you've corrected this?
