Agreed 110% I can only blame Derek for what's happened. I don't we can blame Mweb Guy as he is given orders by Derek Hershaw :( What a destructive mess
 
Yes , I did once test the waters and came running back:D My 4Mbps MWEB Premium product still working better than anything else ( in the price range ) for streaming.

Underwire bra also offers support, although I have never been throttled with one ... Just saying.

MWEB is still a fine ISP IMHO ... just a stoopid policy decision - thats all.
 
I'm also still with MWeb. I had an issue where I got a warning letter for exessive use, but that was sorted out. I don't download a f|ckton, but not a little either. Speeds are generally good, the only problems I can remember having in the last year were Telkom-related.

I'm on 4mb. Use 250Gb last month and on 195Gb for Feb.

Mweb problems : throttle monster hiding around the corner, ready to pounce at any moment. ZERO redundancy, when seacom goes down, join another isp for the month.

Afternoon, that's incorrect.

We do have redundancy via other providers, such as WACS.
 
Sad to say we are closing down our Mweb dsl account as we cant take the constant throttling, one ore two days of decent speeds and then 8-9 days of sub 20kb/s speeds. has been going on like this for the last two months +. I gave up on trying to play online games or even Updating my online games for fear of being throttled.

First of all you are referencing a 2012 thread, cant be a tehchead if you don't read dates and/or use a bit of logic. Are you really a techhead? :p

Still with Afrihost Business and not worried about being throttled if I use over 100GB 3 times in a year instead of 70GB like most of the year (like I would have had to be with MWeb).

Let's see... today is Saturday...

Right now... the best I CAN DO WITH THIS PIECE OF CRAP OPENWEB ADSL PRODUCT IS 103kb/sec... OH FREAKING YAY!
Took nearly 3 1/2 hours to upgrade my Samsung phone.
It doesn't take me much to realize I traded a short term gain for a long term loss. I don't even have to prove it, I just know that, at this time of day, I'd very likely be able to max this thing out at close to 500kbytes/sec as I used to do for the year and a bit I have been with MWEB.

As I said before, I run a business now... the torrents and crap can wait for later, on a dedicated line and then I'll pay whomever (NOT OPENWEB) enough to STFU about soft-capping/throttling.

um MWEB have throttling (an unstated softcap)
If you want uncapped and unthrottled Internet access outside of Openweb your options are many: Telkom Internet, Afrihost, Cybersmart a dozen or so IS resellers (Plugg being specifically in mind), Axcess and so on. Telkom Internet are having a bit of a hard time but Afrihost Business by all accounts appear to be flying
