So i made a switch to Android from IOS...

I must be doing android wrong, because I have not had the same experience at all Lament.I'm an avid user of both ios and android,I love iphones but the screen size was getting way too small for me so I ditched my iphone 5 for a note 3 lte,s5 3g and now using a s5 lte...

Contrary to popular belief on these forums filled with IT tinkerers you don't need to be a customizer to enjoy android,I run stock phones out the box just change around icons and disable unused home screens(disable any operator installed junk!) nothing like launchers etc...

I honestly cant see any of the lag or apps crashing you mention, there was a stage on my iphone 5 just for a few months after ios 7 was released where apps crashed A LOT,DAILY,many other people on iOS were having the same issue, but thankfully its been resolved.

Please tell me where I should check to find this lag on my s5/note 3 since maybe I am doing it wrong? My phone is a 16gb and I have a 32gb memory card in it,both are 3/4 full and the phone get useds extensively daily for communication.I got the LTE version of the s5 because it lasts me half a day longer than the non LTE version.

I'm not Samsung fan either btw, their phones are plastic and I much prefer Sony, the only reason I went with the s5 is because its waterproof and it has that adh warranty to back that up,this matters to me personally because unlike most people that need a waterproof phone just for accidental spills etc I actually take my phone snorkelling for up to an hour at a time it sits in my pocket underwater in the ocean sometimes 2 meters deep and then I'll take some videos thereafter. The s5 hasn't failed me yet even though I've subjected it to this torture several times already, just wash it of with freshwater when I get out.

I'm very keen to try out the note 4 and iphone 6/6 plus although the lack of dust/waterproofing on all 3 of them is a big let down for me.

Two words: Vanilla Android

I HATE HATE HATE HATE Samsung's Android flavour it SUCKS, LAGGS, is CONFUSING AND JUST PLAIN K@ K!

Get a Nexus or load Vanilla Android over that Samsung manure.

After being on iPhones for the last 5 years I feel like a change, but there are some seriously plasticy devices out there..

Who makes the best quality androids in general, would the Sony Z3 compact be a good move?

Yep....the Sony's and HTC's are the only ones with decent build quality that match Apple. However that depends if you use your phones with covers or not,I don't so it matters to me but if you use your phone in a case then honestly it makes no difference.

HTC, Sony, Moto & LG's feel nice in the the hand. Even Hauwei
Samsung seems to be heading in the opposite direction for some reason.

Nexus 4 & 5 feels good as well.

I actually like touchwiz.... its come a long way :)

The touch screen is not as responsive as well as the Iphone, i keep making typing mistakes and same things i have to press several times before it registers
The Back button which is also touch is not very responsive
Apps hangs or freezes
Phone freezes (might just be a long lag)
Customizable themes, even though i love them, they make the phone slow.
The settings menu is all over the place
The more apps you load, the more the phone freezes
Whatsapp is absolutely horrible compared to IOS
Wifi drops
3G drops (even though it says its connected) and i have to restart the phone

Honestly, coming from both Blackberry Z10/iPhone5S - I think you had a dud.
I got the Sony Z1 Compact - phone is noticeably faster then the iPhone. To the point, where family members wants to sell their iPhone to get a Z1C or Z3.

Do you like the unlock screen? eeeeuw
The blue and geen? eish!!
The dialer? yuck

Look alot of people must like it cause Samsung sells like hot cakes.

From Note 1 to Note 3 and even S5 :D. I don't particularly like the settings menu but it's not bad... I have a Nexus 7 so I know vanilla android. I don't like the old sense, haven't owned anything else from them... Didn't love Xperia UI but it's not bad. Huawei UI isn't too bad either:)

I'm not saying it's perfect but it's nice... There is a bit of bloatware but the rest is alright

lol :D seriously though, there is something not right...

Your experience is the exception, not the rule.

I would start hunting for the culprit app/s if I was you...
Also possibly you got malware.[/QUOTE]

Yah, maybe he visited www.hipsterpron.com once too much! ;-)

Edit: There is no such website. So dont click on it. I just made it up. Sorry to dissapoint to all the Apple hipters on here. :)

My problems with iOS,
1) Safari, can't have a few tabs open without it having to refresh the tabs when you go back to it, often lags and freezes. Generally slower then chrome on my nexus 7 or phone.
2) occasionally won't connect to internet even though wifi shows connected.
3) loading photos on and taking off is a pain in the ass.

My brother, dad and I all have ipads which suffer from these issues so its not like I have a dud device.

iOS AND android each have there quirks, really don't think one is vastly superior then another. Just comes down to choice.

Problem is android gives you too much freedom with apps, so if you dont know what you are doing it can quickly start messing up your phone.

The Xperia's are also pretty close to Vanilla. One of the many reasons I like them.

I too wish the Android UI was more responsive. Even on fresh factory boot it has this lag between menus and apps that is admittedly annoying. And I've had my fair share of Android bugs on multiple devices. If you haven't then you just aren't using it to the same extent :p

Currently using a Note 2 though which is a great phone.

Wait for the Samsung Alpha if you dont like strong, light plastic.
