So I went to Capitec

Is cash withdrawal at a Capitec ATM really only R6.56 irrespective of the amount? Is there a maximum amount that can be withdrawn, I don't see anything on their website.
Other banks charge a fixed fee + percentage.

I think that R10k is the max you can withdraw, and that's assuming that the atm has 50 R200 notes to push through the slot.

Or just go to Checkers or PnP and pay even less, R3k limit IIRC

I've withdrawn R5k at Pick n Pay, but you need to wait for someone to get cash for you and half the cashiers look at you like you're trying to rob the store not draw your own money.

Yep, not sure about max, mostly my limit is below that.

Other bank's ATMs are flat fee as well, which often means that, when withdrawing a large enough amount, using your Capitec there, it is cheaper than using a card from that bank...

Just received an SMS from Capitec...based on my credit profile they have dropped my credit card interest rate from 15.15% to 11.50% ...first time this has happened
mine was dropped from 17% to 15%... No use to me as my card is settled in full each month. Still not renewing my card when it expires because of the forced insurance.

Guys, has anyone been able to log into the Capitec app from outside SA?

I'm currently in the UK and can't log in, it gets stuck on "going online" right at the beginning (before you enter your PIN).

I have WiFi access at my hotel n I can access all other websites (including the Tyme bank app).

Not sure what the problem is.

Just checked right now and the Capitec app on android logged in fine, no lag or any issue.

I've never logged in from outside SA. The app is working at the moment, maybe it was just a random error last night.

From the Capitec website, so I assume the issue is localised or an error.

It happen to me as well. Worked when I tried again. So nothing to do with location I guess.

From the Tyme Bank thread :

One thing that happened to me was that I was moving money to a goalsave, for some reason or another it didn't go through(gave me a warning message) so I pressed send again, but when I checked both had gone through. was doing it from the App.

This has happened to me a few times. I thought that it was just me being uncoordinated, but looks like it might be an app problem.

It's not a big deal when moving money betwren your own accounts, but double paying someone would suck.

Today I manged to do the same thing on the Capitec app. Again, luckily it was just a transfer between my own accounts that doubled, but this really shouldn't happen.

This is a deficiency with the app. There should be both an entry and a confirmation and it shouldn't accept a second confirmation without another entry. The banking site avoids this by entering the code which can only be used once.

On another note like their new self service kiosk. Now you no longer need to queue to do an account query. Works like an ATM except you can't deposit or withdraw.
