Aah sorry, confusing you with someone else. This reminds me, I should maybe send in my G9. It has a hot pixel too, and there's about a month left of the warranty.

The weird thing is at the moment photographic stuff is cheaper here than everywhere else (except the USA). So much for being one of the most expensive places in the world.
I would look at the 450d or 500d but a friend just got the 450d and it feels so light and flimsy compared to the 20d. I'm not sure if I can go back to small & light again.
P.S. Your kit is selling here for 950 quid. Not fair how tech stuff drops in price hey?

Na, the Swiss Franc has gotten stronger against the USD just like most other currencies. If you want take a look at this site. It gives us a comparison of almost all the shops here. Some good prices out there. Still not quite as good as B&H but close enough to make me by local and not have the customs & warranty schlep.

Another plus with the 50d is my battery grip will fit both bodies.

Aah nice, we've got a similar (but slightly better organised, from what I can tell so far) one here. Sterling £ has dropped substantially against the USD - was $2 to the Pound 18 months ago, and it's steadily dropped to $1.60 odd. That's the difference between 20% cheaper and the same price. I would still save if I visit my friends and family and have B&H deliver out of state (i.e. save on the tax) but then camera stuff come with country specific warranties. The saving just isn't worth it.
I picked up my last camera when I was in Berlin for less than what B&H was offering. On top of that I also got €300+ back when I went through customs at the airport on the way home

Do you remember where you shopped. I've been keeping an eye on prices in Deutschland but with the Swissie gaining on the dollar it's also gained on the Euro so it used to be cheap to shop in Germany buut not so much anymore. Even with the 17% VAT back.
Place called Wüestefeld - this was back in September.

Thats the one - I'd remember that hideous website anywhere.
I have to warn you that to this day I'm half convinced they made a mistake when they sold it to me - it was just so cheap. I'd been to four or five camera/electronics shops in Berlin that day and their price was well below anyone else's.
Still, I'm not complaining.
