Sony Ericsson P990i

Where there's smoke, there's fire.... :)

Even if they don't 'upgrade' our P990i's to OS 9.3, I'd still be happy - my phone has been rock-solid after the update.

I agree. I just want them to fix the remaining critical bugs that are left.

For the first time my P990i syncs correctly with my pc (Office XP SP3), very happy indeed. :)

I wish I can say the same. I get a standard 2 hours offset between appointments I create in Outlook, and then sync with the phone.
Eg. Create task as 2pm on PC. Sync with phone. Same task is 4pm on phone..!

PC Local settings: GMT+2 (Harare, Pretoria).
Phone settings:
Current Time Zone: Central Africa Time (Pretoria).
Home Time Zone: Central Africa Time (Pretoria).
Zone of Interest: Greenwich Time...

How does one explain that?

my phone rock solid too... havent even bothered reloading swiss manager. dont need it anymore.

im also battling a bit with time differences gecko... im nigeria at the moment and we are one hour behind sa. so when i get an sms from my wife or from anyone in sa it gets bumped down the sms list after my current nigerian sms s which is freaking annoying. it never used to be like this on the previous firmware. ive gone thru all the time settings so many times to make sure ive got everything set up properly... so really not sure whats going on

Current Time Zone: Central Africa Time (Pretoria).
Home Time Zone: Greenwich Time

I'll check if my appts also show the two hour off-set when I get home tonight....

*Also not using Swiss Manager anymore... but it was necessary with the older firmware.

Thanks oh King. Unfortunately mine is still the same after changing my Location settings to yours.

What is interesting is that my appointments are correct (same as PC) but Tasks still get 2 hours added on phone during Outlook syncing.. Weird.

Thanks for your help.

It has died at night without notice whilst charging twice, my alarm didnt activate in the morn as well twice.

I haven't had a restart since the update, but I did a master reset before the update & close apps running in the background regularly now. Also restart the phone every five to six days - I love the progress bar, almost like you're booting Windows XP!

@Gecko - I created an appointment in Outlook and then synced with my P990i, but now all the anniversaries' alarm changed from 09:00 to 00:00 - and it didn't pick up the appointment I created!

Will have to check the settings in sync manager...

oh shucks, sorry to hear that king! That happened to me too a while back. Syncing between Outlook and phone definitely not working 100% yet.
I think I am just going to use Outlook to sync my Contacts for Backup purposes.

Sorry for causing you any inconvenience. :o

No, it's fine - we won't know if we don't try...

That's what I did with previous firmware - only synced my contacts, but I'll try again. Guess it will work better with newer versions of Office.

Nope. I am using Office 2007 with the same results..

King how would a master reset affect the stability of the newly updated phone?

I ususally backup and restore my phone after firmware updates so i dont loose contacts.

Hi Amith, it's something I've read on My Symbian and, with the odd 'phone restarted to improve performance', I was willing to give any new ideas a go.

Oh, I performed the master reset before I did the firmware update - the phone just asks you if you're sure that you want to delete all user settings, etc. and I just said yes.

Well, so far my phone has not restarted itself again. Touch wood....

lol you covering all the angles hoping it works fines hey,

in my opinion i think the actual update is like a totally new software package that installs itself with std settings etc so a master reset doesnt seem to effect the stability but i see your point anything for stability :)

I can confirm the King's recommendation. I also did not do any restore of my settings and contacts etc (i just resynced with Outlook to get my Contacts back). The settings I re"setup"ed myself manually.

It is something to do with making sure no legacy of the old firmware's bugs is transferred with a Restore of settings to the new Firmware.. Starting with a blank page.

I had 1 reboot since my upgrade, but that was caused by a Java game which didn't surprise me. The game is unstable it seems.

Very excited about the rumour that the R6 firmware update that SE is working on, will include Symbian OS 9.3 - we can only hope...

It's got better memory management, faster response time, etc. should be cool, however, it's not the end of the world if it doesn't come to the P990i - I'll just buy the P1000. :)
