Hey Guys... the webcam ap is really cool thanx Nixxon!
I am however sitting hear with my HANDS IN MY HAIR! I've never used bluetooth from my P990i to connect to my laptop, until using the webcam app.
Both devices are set up to be trusted, but when I go into the bluetooth menu of my phone, and choose connect from the drop down menu, the connection fails.
In the same way, if I select a file on my laptop, and try to send it to my phone, the transfer fails, saying either the bluetooth computer or device did not respond.
Then I went into my M-Router's Bluetooth settings to see if it will connect to my phone. It detects the phone, but when I click connect, I receive an error msg: Failed to connect to P990 Reason: The requested address is not valid in its context.
I am more than happy with the whole USB connection but this is very frustrating as I would like to be able to use bluetooth as well, especially since I've now fiddled and I JUST WANT TO!
Has anyone else encountered this problem, or heard of it, and had ANY idea how to fix it?
I'm really struggling with the webcam. Installed the software on phone and PC but no image. Buffering seems to work. When I choose viewfinder the image block stays black. Any suggestions? Too bad the evaluation time is only 7 days. You guys know when Fring will be available for the P990i. Sent all my friends with Nokia's the link and now they're all running Skype from their phones, but P990i not supported yet.Hi All,
I told you all that I would let you know once the Software becomes available for SE P990's to turn your phone into a webcam...
Here is the link : http://www.warelex.com/products/webcam/index.php
It works well... the unfortunate thing is that it only uses the rear camera for now... They are busy with development to use the front cam and the microphone... thus creating a fully functional webcam with Skype cababilities.
If anyone wants more info PM me.![]()

Hi,
In the hope it helps someone else, I have battled for 6 months since getting my P990i to synch the calendar. It always bombs with an error message about there being a Type Mismatch with the date & time format. But as of 5 minutes ago I have finally done it !
My particular setup is Novell Groupwise & MS Outlook 2003 on an XP SP2 Dell Latitude D620.
The clue came here on a French forum :
http://www.mobilitycommunity.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4943
... my school French isn't brilliant so I used the Altavista Babelfish service to translate the postings one by one.
It starts by questioning whether the date & time format in your P990i is the same as that in your PC (Control Panel / Regional Settings), mine was but I changed the 'Short Date' & 'Long Date' formats to be the same anyway = "29/04/2007") ... not sure this had anything to do with my success.
Things worked when I did the following :-
- On the SE PC Suite click the "+" button next to "Synchronize Now".
- On the new window that appears, on the SETTINGS button, ensure the calendar is selected with a tick, otherwise I left everything as default.
- On the ADVANCED SYNC button select the final option = MERGE. It is this that the French person reccomends.
- And as they say in French "Voila" !
Its been 6 months and many a frustrating work day not having my diary with me !
Cheers,
J.
how is the Updating Service work? I downloaded it and it just Checking for Update for the past 20 mins? Is there a trick to this little program to get it working or what?
Edit: Nevermind...guess it was perhaps just a hickcup in the downloading of the file. Wish there was a download status so we can see wtf is happening. But it sure is slow when it's downloading the software updates.
Hey guys and Trix
I think the prob may be my bluetooth drivers - problem is I got the dongle as a 'hand me down' basically from a friend, so no software or anything - what I had was what windows automatically installed.
I'd since installed Bluesoleil but with even less luck than before with M-Router, and though my phone sees my computer as a 'headset' with bluesoleil, I can't get sound to go through the computer.
I can't find a decent way to get drivers for my dongle - it's almost as if it doesn't exist. Anyway I've given up and will take on this one day when I have the guts to reinstall windows and just start over.
Thanks J, for sharing the advice with us. I still have the default 2 hours offset between my tasks created in Outlook and what is being synced with my phone.. so I'll give you advice a try!
Cheers
