Sony Ericsson P990i

I ave had my P990i since the begining of December. The phone is crap!

Currently it is back in for repairs. This time the flip has just stopped working, First it was only the main button, then a few days later, it was all the buttons.

I have done updates over the internet, this made phone slower and slower. I would turn its self off, re-start and tell me something about t needed to restart to fix something ... piece of cr@p is you ask me ...

Now I am using my Nokia 6680 again. Phone has worked for 2 years without a hitch, and looks like it is going to have to work for another 2 ... :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

Sorry to hear WHATEVER!! I have had no problems what so ever. Neither have most of the people on this thread. Sounds like you got a dud!

Perhaps :mad: But I have asked that they please format and re-install the phone ... lets hope that helps ...:confused:

Followed the details on how to install PC Suite on Vista. Success!! Can even connect and use GPRS via Bluetooth and USB cable. Am getting a 3G SIM tomorrow. Yay! I can use my phone and laptop when I travel in Germany. :D

hey guys, not sure if you remember me but i posted here when i had my p990 during december and january almost everyday!!! i loved this place and glad to see that it is stll running. i gave up my p990 coz it did not suit my lifestyle (student with fears of it being stolen!) so i traded it for a w900. anyway just wanted to here your thoughts on the se p1 that is being released? if you guys have already spoken about it i apologize and will direct myself to your previous posted thoughts. anyway, do you think it is se's way of pushing the p990 problems to the side and introducing an improved pakage like they did with the p900 and p910 (i think, not to sure on the name)? Is it there plan to forget that the p990 problems ever happened or is it just time for a new model?

Off course I remember you! Hi FoRmFacTor, how's it going? :)

The P1 is not a bad offering by SE, but I think SE wants to lure students, young execs, etc. to the P-series with the P1. It might also win clients who like a phone without a flip. Time will tell if it will do well in the market...

Personally I think it's an ugly phone + I like my flip, so it's not for me. Only wish I could have the P1's internal RAM in my P990i.. :)
 
Hi, welcome back Formfactor!

I think the P1i is a beautiful looking phone. Will miss the flip, but then I've been using my P990 happily without the flip for 2 months now.
The build quality seems good, and i like the fact that it's thinner than the P990.
And the extra RAM - wouldn't mind that at all!

But those with the P990 and M600 etc; we won't be left behind. The P1 is going to get the same UIQ version (3.0) as the P990 and M600, so development and improvement will continue for the rest of 2007.

Also Michal Jerez from My-Symbian confirmed that Sony Ericsson informed him that all P990 and M600 Firmwares will be upgraded to the same level and features of that of the P1i - launched in September 2007. THAT is something to look forward to!

vertigo, if you play with that phone much longer you'll grow hair on the palms of your hands...;)

how are you finding it ?

kingrob, yes, we're supposed to be getting the same FW as P1, but only in September, i'll believe it when I see it...

meanwhile Cellphonesoft will be releasing a standby screen / app that sounds like it will go a long way to filling the big gap on FO mode ( see their thread on my-symbian ) :)

PS I agree the P1 is ugly. I wouldn't go for it

I always thought you get hair on the palms of your hands (or even become blind! :eek:) if you play too much with a certain part of your anatomy. :confused:

Please help, aqualung, I'm confused now.
 
V3rT|g0 looks confused and wonders if he now needs to return the 14 bottles of shaving cream he just bought for his palms... :confused:
