Transitions were already disabled from the time I gently caressed the phone out of the box.
However, I enabled them recently to see what all the fuss was about. I must say, it's not THAT slow with them on. And the little effects are quite pretty. Will see if I get frustrated with the slight slowness as I go along.
SM was one of the first programs I installed. Seems OK, nothing special. I did find it strange that the programs I close seem to stick in the task manager without actually closing. That seems like a bit of a dumb engineering decision to me. Why not just make them close when you exit them (by hitting back or whatever) and make it a special case if you want to minimise them to the background? In any case, SM appears to be closing whatever it finds running in the task manager every few minutes, so that pretty much solves that problem.
Well I've managed to drain the battery completely once already (it came about half charged yesterday). I've installed a couple of themes, apps and games, explored menus, options etc, checked out all the pictures and ringtones, extensively tested infrared and bluetooth to other phones, transferring files and music, tested compatibility with MS Office files and PDFs (it did a marvelous job of MSOffice 2003 files - impressive!), converted with M3 and uploaded a few tv episodes onto the phone (watched one already), got some highscores on the golf game and pretty much played with every feature I could find. What fun!
