There's no thing as a dumb question.
You can do this by going to your phone's Control Panel. Then you will find it under the "Other" option.
(I still recommend reflashing your phone over Master Resetting it)
This then leads to the question: How do you reflash the phone?

My media player is only slow the first time I load a bunch of new songs. When updating the song list it can take a couple of minutes if you have just added hundreds of songs.
But once that's done, actually starting it up to play songs is very fast - hardly a noticeable delay at all.
I'm using MP3s from 64kbps up to 256kbps and have had no trouble with any of them. Maybe because (unlike some people around here
), I don't go downloading illegal music from dodgy sources! Otherwise, I'm happy with the performance and quality, it's actually pretty good even with the standard headphones. Base is surprisingly well defined for such a little system and in accoustic songs you can really hear the instruments very well. In a guitar album I have you can clearly hear the tiny "real" sounds like when the guitarists tap the body or slide their fingers on the strings, etc. Very nice.
By the way, unless I am mistaken the "buffering" you are referring to which is somewhere in the options applies only to the online music streaming. It shouldn't have any effect when you're playing the songs from the memory stick.

Hmm...'ear-bud' you say. Now you've got my interest up again. I'm using the headphones that came with my K750i and was quite happy with those until you opened your big mouth. Now I'm wondering if maybe I just don't know what I've been missing all along from fancier headphones.

I have them too and are much better than the standard issue. Only downside is that I can hear myself breathing when putting it on (between songs)

By buffering I was thinking that perhaps the cpu decides to decode a portion of the music to get started in case it struggles to do it all on demand as it goes, but I suppose it would eventually catch up with itself anyway.
I've still to find time to remove the music, format & copy back as I think Gecko suggested, for now its kind of the big wait whenever I select a new artist.
By the way, while I'm here, has anyone managed to transfer the sound via Bluetooth from the P990i to their PC ?

No, I haven't got earbuds for my P990i yet, but I've got them for my Sony mp3 Walkman!
Yes Gecko, it does sound weird when you put it on, the earbuds completely block any 'outside' noise.

*What I wish LCG would support is linking ID3 genre tags to equaliser presets...as each song starts it's "Genre" in the ID3 automatically triggers the appropriate equaliser setting

I installed it last night (2.13), and it works really well. LonelyCatGames software has always did something right with regards to their power over the graphical interface - since the days of ProfiMail on UIQ2.
What I do find missing in LCG Jukebox is a way to sort my songs according to Artist, Albums, etc like in the built-in player and iPods. Or did I miss it in one of the menu structures?
Also haven't been able to download lyrics yet. I must still play with my configuration settings. Is your internet connection set up to "Automatic", or to your specific GPRS internet account in your phone?

I did manage to transfer sound via bluetooth to my laptop speakers around the cricket world cup matches, so I could listen to the matches on radio and run to the tv room to watch replays. All I did was update the bluetooth drivers for my laptop. This was working fine until the last firmware update, now my phone says that the stream is not authorised. I'm also having a few other niggly problems like the radio presets not available, but I'm happy to wait until the next update than to reflash. Any guesses as to when that will be??
BTW: How much does a 1GB card cost brand new? After that I think I'll buy the walkman headphones-seems like a great buy if you can find it.

Vodacom's current prices (June 2007) of memory cards are as follows:
256 MB - R329
512 MB - R359
1 GB - R499
2 GB - R899
4 GB - n/a
8 GB - n/a
Does anyone have the prices of memory cards from MTN? I know they also don't have 4GB cards and above.
The only place I have found that has 4 GB cards available so far is "Cats Digital Expert" in East Rand Mall. Very professional and helpful there. The cards go for R1499 at the moment. Otherwise I haven't found anywhere else that sells them yet. Vodacom called me and quoted R899 for a 4GB card shortly after I had bought mine, but when I enquired further it turned out they had made a mistake and it was actually a 2GB card.
Apparently 8GB cards are not available anywhere in South Africa yet.

Why wait? I got my 4 GB memory stick pro duo from Cats Digital Expert on Monday and it looked like there were 2 or 3 remaining in stock after I bought mine. If you're quick you could still pick one up.
I've got about 1GB of music on mine at the moment and was listening to it the whole day yesterday! Made the queue at the bank a far more pleasant experience!
