Sony Ericsson P990i

P990i MTN Deal

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet but MTN have the P990i for a total cost of R159 a month on MyCall 100 with no pay-in. Also SIM & Connection are free from MTN direct. I already convinced my brother to get one. I doubt you could beat a price like that!

Absolutely incredible! Especially if you take into consideration that the R6 firmware might surface in the near future... :eek:

Out of interest, am i in the minority of people who want to transfer sms's to my pc? i ask because of the lack of references i found on the net. (then again i'm also an idiot).

I can add that this is quite correct since it's the contract I am on (and through which I got my P990i). Actually until about 2 or 3 weeks ago the offer did have a pay-in of R1299, but now the handset comes free on that contract. I discovered that fact much to my delight when (after drawing the required funds) I walked into the shop to pick up my upgrade and was told the pay in part had been discarded. So I bought a 4 GB memory stick with the money instead instead. :D

I had to pay R999 extra in December - wonder if MTN will contact me for a refund... :confused:

I paid in about R759 in ? October / November last year, to renew my Procall 120 contract

and it's been worth that many times over for the pleasure and use I've gotten out of the phone these last 8 - odd months :)

I hope that was on ProCall, I got mine on Vodacom Weekender and paid in R2300! Debranding cost an extra R60 (thanks to kulankendi) never again will I get a Vodacom phone.

Yes, I also steer clear of any branded phones.

The first & only 'branded' phone I ever got, was my P800 from Vodafone in the UK, with Vodafone startup & shutdown screens, but fortunately the Vodafone live! menus were not installed on the phone.

When I took the phone for a software upgrade at a Vodafone service centre in Oxford Circus, the update wiped all the Vodafone software on the phone. :)
 
Hi Guys

I did not pay in any extra when I got my phone in Jan/Feb I could have it on the Procall 120 or the next one up-- forget what its called, think it was the 400.

It also as part of the deal came with really nice bluetooth stereo headset,the ds 970. If you listen to music quite a bit then its a sweet little headset.

Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate.
Good deals can be had.
 
Vodacom is offering this phone for R529 on Talk 120...:rolleyes: Any idea if this is likely to come down next month?

ProCall? No it's just normal MyCall 100.

R159 x 24 months (R3816 total)
85 free off-peak minutes + 15 free peak minutes + 15 free SMS's. (All worth about R200 per month)
Handset free. (P990i is probably worth about R5000)

All in all I think it's a very good deal from MTN. Good show you guys.

Vodacom doesn't seem to have anything close to that kind of value for money plus their controversial branding is a real turn-off. Come on, jack up your service Vodacom - you can do so much better.

Damn, I must still go a year with my Motorola V3 Razr before I can upgrade...

Think I'll order another P990i through Expansys and cancel the insurance on my P990i - almost the same price. :eek:
 
Any1 has sum advise on which brand of memory to purchase for the P990?
Was looking @ the Sony, but y is the Transcend more expensive?

I've been using a Sandisk 512MB memory stick duo for the last year, without any problems. Guess the Verbatin and Sony sticks will work just as well.

My next purchase will be a 4GB/8GB Sandisk/Sony High Speed memory stick duo pro.

With an 8 GB Sony High Speed memory stick in your P990i your kingliness-ship will be undisputed!
 
My phone still hangs. Will need to do a Master Reset. I see that it asks for a code (Phone Lock). Is there a standard nr for I have never entered such a code?

I can't remember what the default code is, is should be in your P990i's documentation.

RTFM - Read The 'Funky' Manual. :)
