Sony Ericsson P990i

[nostalgia kicks in] Makes me think back to the early days of this thread..

Ahh, what a long way back that was. Everyone was getting excited about the "brand new" P990i (and its famously buggy firmware). The few brave men (and women) doing all they could to get their hands on it and eventually succeeding. The infant stages when all was daunting and new and updating firmware became a kind of religion.
Yep, those were the good old days... the days when people STILL BOTHERED TO RTFM!!! Now stop cluttering our thread with silly questions and if you're going to ask something, make it worth our while.
I agree there is no such thing as a stupid question. However, I have noticed that there certainly are very many stupid question-askers in this world.

My phone still hangs. Will need to do a Master Reset. I see that it asks for a code (Phone Lock). Is there a standard nr for I have never entered such a code?

Hi WPDL, I recommend you reflash your phone by upgrading it again via SEUS. Maybe the FW you downloaded last time got corrupted somehow and by doing a Master Reset then won't solve your problems.

Also make sure you install decent (and non-cracked) software from respectable Software companies/developers. It can take just one of these shady apps to make your phone unstable.

Good luck.

There's a difference between a silly question and just being LAZY. ;)

After reflash I only download my contacts from my memory card and the phone gets the SMS and MMS setting. I do not download any thing, don't connect to the internet nothing and it still hangs but thank you will try to flash again.

Hi, if reflash don't work, then you might have a hardware problem. Best to have it looked under warranty at a Service Center. Hopefully you don't have to go to such extreme measures.

It might even be a faulty memory stick...

Tip of the day

For those who haven't yet tried it, "Xplore" from lonelycatgames is an excellent piece of software ( shareware )

It's basically a file browser and manager ( some of it's functions overlap with Swiss manager )

Pluses : Superb picture browser that opens pics ( a tad faster than the built in one ) with nifty hotkey support for picture zoom option in FC mode

Hotkeys to 9 most commonly accessed folders

Text reader allows one to read Word files in FC mode

I like it !

:)

Yes, I used to use FloAt with my old SE Z600. GREAT software! Unfortunately not compatible with Symbian phones. Unless this has changed in the last few months.

Thing is, still trying to work out the prog, but i'm seeing everything on my pc, and it seems to alllow a great deal of control of the phone via the pc ie: i can get sms's of the phone onto the phone (:) yay me), and i'm seeing everything i'd want to see.

Looks like a decent interface to use on a daily basis.

Floats Mobile Agent 2.1 Beta Build 237 (charm)

I know! With my Z600, I had Full control over my phone, even control my phone remotely via bluetooth and taking pictures, and then immediately transfer the image to my pc. Interface much better than anything I saw at the time.

Thanks for letting us know. I am going to try it out now. I will be really surprised since it officially does not support SE Symbian phones.

For the other who might be interested, you can have a look at:

http://fma.sourceforge.net/

It's free opensource software.

Inferior.

See my post above about some of the extra's Xplore offers ( no need to be shackled to a PC BTW :p )

including zip/rar support for those who like it

the flip closed image opening and zooming function is faster ( ie opens images faster ) and serves me well at work ( a 2mp camera in macro mode serves quite nicely as "instant photostating" for single page documents/images or complicated diagrams that one needs to have at hand )

Spoilt Apple user? :p

:D

That I am

( Who on this forum doesn't want superior file handling "on the fly" ? )

( To clarify - X-plore is standalone. Neither PC nor Mac required . Only a willing and able smartphone )
