Sony Ericsson P990i

If worst comes to worst I'll call my P910 back to duty....although the worst I'm experiencing with my phone is the memory leak requiring reboot after 2-3 days ( usually closer to 3 )....still happy with my unit :)

Still happy with my P990i & if the new firmware can sort out the memory leaks, I'll be a very happy camper.

One thing that will seriously cheese me off, is if Sony release a P1000 next year with 128MB internal RAM, etc. Then I'm flying to corporate HQ in London to complain... :)

*Noordhoek is a lovely stretch of beach...
 
IF the recall is going to happen, I wonder how they're going to implement it with people's current contracts.. Has anyone ever heard about something like this ever happening (with any phone) in the past?

Sony did recall some products in the past, but there's a very slim chance that they'll recall the P990i - they just cannot afford to do that.

The P990i is a functional phone, but with some serious memory leaks. I'm sure you can fix that with updated firmware - unless there is a major hardware design flaw, like a faulty memory controller. Even then, Sony would rather fix the phones than recall all P990i's worldwide. And it will be up to you to book the phone in for repairs.

Their plan of action for the P990i would be to issue some firmware updates, but then slowly start 'abandoning' the P990i and begin working on a new model, let's call it the P995i.

Same thing happened with the P900 & P910 - the P910 got twice the amount of internal RAM that the P900 had, but SE didn't recall the P900. Instead they released the P910i and users had to decide if they're gonna pay for the upgraded P900.

*I would still fly over to SE Corporate HQ in London and complain if they release a 'P995i' in 2007! :mad:

geez can you imagine the lawsuit we would slap on those guys if that ever happened? penguin in the desert stuff that!:p

All my other servants ? Could be read as the 'queen' being part of the 'servant set' ?! Surely not...;)

hey guys.... 3 weeks into owing this phone im suddenly getting kernel errors

aaargh

and im doing NOTHING different

got latest firmware etc
 
kvi, my phone's touchscreen went a bit screwy 3 weeks after I got it...a master reset sorted that out and have had no problems since.

If you have installed no new apps that could be causing problems and you have Swiss Manager or Swiss manager pro , maybe a master reset will help.

( remember you will lose all settings - sms, gprs etc, as well as games )
