Sony Ericsson P990i

Hi! Can anybody who has upgraded the FW please check for me if the facility to move 'sent' sms's to user defined folders exist. I need to save my 'sent' sms's to folders that I can set up for easier reference but cannot do so. This facility exists in the 'inbox' of the messages menu but not in the 'sent' menu.

re the 'sent' messages folder - you cannot create such a folder for 'sent' sms's, only for inbox sms's ( this applies to the new firmware, yes I did the upgrade ! :) )

Google ' sms diary ' - it's freeware available on my-symbian - you can archive sms's any way you like with that and save them as html pages to the phone :)

Hey everyone, sorry to bug you but i am trying to understand something. On gsmarena it says that the p990i has "hscsd". What the heck is it and how do you activate it???:confused: Sorry for asking such a dumb question but i have tried researching it and all i find is weird technical descriptions that i do not understand.:confused: Please Help!!!!:)
 
From what I understand, HSCSD is a way to speed up dial-up connections over cell phone networks, and achieve lower latency. You can then have dial-ups of up to 57600 bps, instead of the normal 9600 bps. However, as it is Circuit Switched it requires you to make a phone call and get charged per minute, as opposed to GPRS/3G where you get charged for the amount of data transferred.

Even if our cellphone networks support it, and I can figure out how to enable it, I wouldn't use it due to the cost aspect. 3G (runs over UMTS) is faster, and designed for low-latency (relatively), and even though GPRS is slower, it will be WAY cheaper.

Here's a challenge for the representatives of the 4 cellular companies. Why don't you collaborate and create a note with all these confusing industry acronyms, and a 2/3 sentence explanation? I am sure the mods will make it sticky.

Some requests:

1) Keep it reasonably up to date
2) Indicate which of the networks support the specific technology (if any, HSUPA comes to mind, for example, as not-yet-supported, while HSDPA is by 2 providers)

Oh dear, oh dear!

My P990i just restarted itself after I had a missed call! :mad:

Also, two days ago when I flagged a call & wanted to follow it up, the phone completely 'freezed' on me. Not even holding in the power button for 10-seconds trick would restart the phone, had to physically remove the battery. :(

So, the new firmware fixed a lot of bugs & created new ones.

Haven't checked to see what specifics causes this, but it has happened to me twice already. A call comes in. I answer it on the HBH DS970 headset. Boom. Restart. No warnings. No notices. Nothing.

Crazy, I'd say. Shame on SE for this - regardless of the causes. The P990i should be able to make and receive calls without issues. Period.

Wonderful!!! that is all we need, just when things are looking good!!! it now seems that it is alot easier to crash the fone, just call someone!!! kinda defies the point of a mobile fone!!!:( Ah well, lets hope there is some emergency firmware update in the next few days or a free exchange for the P1000. (a guy can dream!!!!:p )

I hope Sony Ericsson put a Core2Duo CPU, loads of fast RAM & better battery into the P1000... ;)

Hey, would just like to know if anyone knows what kind of graphic acceleration the p990i uses, is it a chip or something and is it shipped from nvidia? sorry, know it is a weird question but i am trying to settle a long running dispute!:D

It's a PowerVR chip from ARM and Imagination Technologies.
