Sony Xperia Z

Anyone getting charging problems like it can't charge full?

Only up to 60% even charge it overnight with stock charger?

Nope.

Let your battery get to 5% before charging it again.

Done that, still the same.

I put the charger on to a UPS, able to charge up to 100%, without a UPS can only reach around 60%.

Now moved to a 2.1A charger able to reach 100% without UPS.

Maybe is a power fluctuation.
 
Just a heads up, new update for Xperia Z is available. Im busy downloading it now, will post more later. Still android 4.2.2 but with bug fixes etc.

Sony is doing pretty good this year!

that is horrible to hear!! did he by any change have the MyXperia app activated, it tracks your device's location....maybe you can go and steal it back haha. But seriously, that is truly sucks....

Does it work after reset with new sim?

He phoned it, someone answered. Not been possible to phone it since and he blacklisted the sim.

First impressions of the latest update:
Device feels more responsive
Album lag is gone
Camera seems to start slightly faster and quality also seemed to have improved - less noise

The update was 697.2MB

Yes they surely have. Since I got my Z in April, I have received an update every month. And it is not only the Z, the other 2013 devices also receive regular updates. Even the Xperia S had 2 updates lol. Only problem is people still think of Sony as they were before the rebranding took place...they need to do some serious marketing to change people's perception.


@Hamster, to which device are you referring to?? Most of their devices from 2012 are running Jelly bean.

the real test for this device is when the device is one year old then we can truly see if Sony improved its product support
 
The only Sony update for my Z this morning is the 'Walkman' app? Maybe I need to attach it to my laptop?

South Africa Vodacom ZA - 1270-7290 - 10.3.A.0.423 R6B

The above is taken from xda-developers. Connect it to your laptop and see if it is available....depends what your customization number is. The Generic ZA is out so I believe the vodacom and mtn branded versions wont be too far away.

I flashed the Generic Nordic version on my Z a while back because it is the most generic version of all and has no bloatware etc and when updates are released, it is almost immediately available. Vodacom can sometimes be a bit slow....like they were one of the last few operators to release 4.2.2 almost a month after it was released by SOny.

Mtn is currently offering the tablet z for 399 on a 2gig plan (vodacoms 2gig+2gig night ow; for 399 is still better) BUT MTN is throwing in a free charging dock!! Im sooo tempted to get this...really want a white tablet (to match my white xperia Z) but at this moment I dont mind the black one.

Also over at esato forums there are rumors of a new tablet z successor (even thinner and lighter) with s800 processor and triluminous display being announced with the 'honami' at IFA on the 4th of September....maybe I should hold out until that announcement and see what is announced??? But then again the tablet z has just been released here in SA so even if a successor is announced in september, we wil probably only get it next year January or something like that??

Ah decisions decisions........
 
I will love to have a Xperia Tablet Z, but currently Nexus 7 2nd Gen attracts more. :)

I just hope see local service provider will to release Xperia Z Ultra!! :D

Nah Im more of a Sony fan...but the nexus 7 does look pretty good in terms of specs and design.
Also hoping that the Z ultra gets released here in SA because if I cant get the 'Honami' then I will take the Z ultra when I upgrade in November
