Yeah Telkom/8ta doesn't do the Sony phones. As far as I can tell, they do the following only:
- Cheap phones
- Samsung phones
- Apple phones
- All brands for 3G/LTE modems/routers.

Which is why I had 1 of 2 choices when I went with a Sony phone.
1. Go to MTN, or if you will CellC or Vodacom.
2. Go prepaid, buy the phone you want from the Orange store.

I chose to go with #2. Best choice I made.

Not the case, the lady I spoke to was a Sony rep in a Telkom store advertising the E1.

Hmm thats interesting. Even so, as nice as the E1 is, it falls under the "Cheap phones" category.

The thing is, it is not listed here: http://www.telkommobile.co.za/devices/?brand=Sony
Tho I see it is listed here: http://www.telkommobile.co.za/media/downloads/Q1_2014_Brochure_Interactive_v3.pdf

I have also tried to get some of the nicer Z1 Comact/Z2 phones from the Telkom stores and they never knew anything about getting it ever. Which is why I stand by my previous post.
 
Ok I sent them an escalation after getting nothing on Facebook, chat, stores and call centre. They reckon they looking at stocking it from July 1st
 
I find it ridiculous that Sony are pimping their Z2 all over the MyBB homepage yet the units are still as scarce as chicken teeth.
Why aggressively advertise a product when there is hardly any stock available?!

Creating artificial scarcity. Apple has been doing it for years and people still worship them religiously.
 
Just received mine. No goodies, e.g. Noise cancelling earphones or Lifeband... I'm sad.
 
Buddy of mine also struggled to find stock but eventually find one at VC Tygervalley and he got the band for free.
Tygervalley still had one Purple Z2 available.
