Sous Vide immersion circulator

Newest Anova model is available locally, anovaculinary dot co dot za
Did some pork ribs a couple days ago (36hr @ 62.8C), they turned out flipping brilliantly! Planning to try pork belly this weekend, cant wait!

R2999 for a Nano? No thanks. I got mine on amazon.co.uk for alot less.

Hmm you must have gotten lucky then, when I looked last week they only had the older anova model in 220V, not the nano. Also I specifically didnt want the old one as there are many reports online of steam getting inside and frying the circuit board. Oh well, I'm very happy with mine

Do you know if this actually comes from Anova themselves or is it a grey import? Also local warranty?

EDIT: I cannot find contact information for these guys at all on their page...?

I suppose they were probably imported from Europe somewhere, it has been manufactured with one of those round 2 prong plugs and not the SA 3 prong

Maybe but how can there be no contact info on their site at all..? Weird...

Surely since the site is more than likely yours, you know where it came from?

I mean honestly, you register for this site 3 weeks after the domain gets registered.

Also hiding behind Domain Privacy on the domain registration (whilst not strange really) AND having zero contact details on the site itself, screams SCAM to me.

**EDIT**
Ok, so there is reference to Techtoys in the T&C's, and they are registered against 67 Wessels Str on the domain which is a scam registration from many many site.

For completeness sake.

The site has been reported to Anova in the states and they state that there is no affiliation to Anova themselves and they are investigating and will take whatever action is necessary after their investigation.

Anyone got a Anova link on Amazon.co.uk that ships to ZA?

I did the same and got the same response back then(only saw your post now).

Hi there,

So I succumbed and bought the Anova Nano on Black Friday. Only thing is it's the 110v version and was wondering if I needed a voltage regulator or just the socket adapter?

Anyone with experience with the Nano?

The step-down transformer is going to cost more than the Nano. Send it back if you can.

Oi can't believe the person didn't check this before ordering. Pls don't plug it into a plug and destroy the unit...

I bought a Sous vide circulator about a year ago, used it twice. I think i must start using it more now.

We had this water shortage in CPT... so i didn't want to fill a 11liter container just to make my food. (i mean every liter is valuable).

I also don't know how many times you can re-use the same water. (water is not touching the food). Like i know you can reuse certain oils if you made fries etc.

Water touches the bag and nothing else so I really don't see why it can't be reused if you really needed to. I find we use ours a few times a week. Using it for dinner for tonight for steak and then smoking ribs tonight and finishing them off for 12hours sous vide for tomorrow. (will also throw in some potatoes tomorrow morning and grill in the oven). Overall I've found it very nice to have.

So would you use the same water for say 2 or 3 days? or possibly 4-5days?
Obviously if a bag is leaking or any funny business water needs to be replaced. (i do have those vacuum sealer and bags. normally they pretty thick and solid, Don't tend to leak)

I see no reason why you can't. You'll just have to try it for yourself. We dont have issues with water in Gauteng so water goes to the garden etc.

I made a big 800gram steak in sousvide this evening. came out very moist / medium. (2.5hours at 57degree's) Crisped it up with the blowtorch afterwards. Was good.

My big slowcooker on does 55 degrees on low. No need for a circulator.
