Basically, if you ONLY play 2 games a month that equates to +-R1200 per month, which is R14,400 per year.

R14,400 a year is more than enough to upgrade to the newest tech, EVERY YEAR Man. plus you get to do other cool things which that little grey box can't.

Sorry to hear that your budget is being raped by your pc, I don't seem to have that problem. :p
It could be because I own a 360 and able to get the same graphics that most players dream of (have youseen GOW2?:rolleyes:) and not have to worry about buying the latest card within the next 2/3 years.

The 8800 was released about 6 months ago right, so that means... in 2 months time (being gracious now)... there will be a game that will require an even better card. While you take out the 2nd job at McD's, I'll still be sitting on my couch playing the latest games on my 360 in HD while you fork out another R2k+ for a card to play a game.

You really should come out of your room once a while and actually look reality square in the face and realise that consoles are beyond the 8bit stage.

The 8800 series, codenamed G80, was launched on November 8, 2006

and a good 7 Series card can play todays games just as well.

with the launch of PciEx2.0, DDR3 and 45mn chipsets, the xbox is gonna struggle to keep up soon....

The director that created GOW2 said the Xbox is at its limits so there all the xbox ouks are going to upgrade soon. :D
 
they can't upgrade - they need to buy a new system all over again...not part by part like us, and buy what YOU want, and mod it, or overclock it if you prefer watercooling/oil cooling/etc...

they all have the same standard system, and that gentlemen, seperates the men from the boys.
 
So anyone made some cool new creatures with the full version of the creature creater? If u have upload a few of them I want some creatures when I get my game prob on Monday. Stupid courier services that don't work on weekends.

What has the amount of games that I buy and play have to do with the fact that your budget is being raped by your PC?
You will have to buy a new card then MUCH sooner than what I thought, almost a year now...time does fly.

I have a rig at home but with the console, there is very little need to update the system. I am able to get the same graphics and then some than most rigs out there.
The only gripe I have about the console is the lack of modding in games (Oblivion etc etc etc) but it is possible to develop mods for it.

WTF? like i said the 8800 is almost 2 years old and will still be good for quite some time - like I said, you can still play todays games with a 7 series - you not listening or are you just dumb?

like I said - 2 Xbox games a month or use the money to upgrade every year (which isn't needed like some people also said - the 8800 will still be good to go after 2 years) to a new system, and play as many games as you want.

also, the PC will be worth something after 5 years, cause you upgrade it. all you will have is a few scratched CD's !

So far I like the game. Its not a hardcore game but its quite enjoyable.

Just a word of advice guys be carefull what creature you create one of the guys at nag forums got hit with a 7 day ban from EA. Don't know what creature he created but they hit him with a nudity violation.

And you chaps are ok with EA telling how what is allowed or not ...... fsck that, censorship after I've paid for a game is not on.

u can make what you want, just not upload it - the game is intended for all ages you know, not just adults.
 
still censorship on some level ......... but it's another Sims (hence shyte) anyway, so it won't bother me that much ;)

It does go through the first stages rather quickly, but only if you want to. You could stay a small little fish thingy forever if you 'really' want to. The idea is to get you past all that and into the meat of the game - Tribal/Civilization/Space stage. I'm still in creature mode and will be moving onto Tribal stage as soon as I feel I'm ready. Having too much fun for now. :)

It does pose a vast amount of reply value from what I have seen thus far. But I have yet to go into all aspects of the game (Tribal/Civilization/Space).

There are 3 difficulty levels ,Easy Normal Hard - currently struggling along on Normal. It is quite challenging (Unless I'm a really bad player:o)

So you'd be cool with your kid/a kid playing this with Hube_bOob/etc creatures that the game pulled from the internet running all around his planet? If they limited this game to 18+ they'd cut out a large part of their target market. Hence making the minor "censorship" the logical thing to do.

I assume you clocked the game already seeing as you are throwing around these allegations? ;)

Read what I said. The game has the Creature (+unit etc etc) Creator built in. Its part of the game. In the main menu under "Create". You just start off with like minimal stuff to work with in the game though. Then as you 'collect'/earn skills/etc your collection will grow and you can add more/better parts to your creature.

I'm not against what they censor, just the idea of there being censoring for a product that I've paid for. And no I didn't clock it didn't even buy it) but have seen almost a gigs worth of the vids ,and it's basically Sims with creatures ......
 
Paying R600 a game on X360 is insane. Pc games cost R320. (and that is for the exact same game). So buy a game each month (600 x 12= R7200, 320 x 12 = R3840). Huge saving!!

Yea... consoles are "cheap". And my pc is 2 years old (8800 GTS, Dual Core etc). And it still kicking butt!.
 
Dunno when the HD2900's came out, but thats how old my PC is and it still kicks ass too :p Playing SPORE full settings AoC full.. all in 1680x1050... wow wo wait. .this is a SPore thread :D

Played the whole of yesterday, ,Spore is pretty dang cool. I finished the creature stage and suddenly I was thrown into an RTS with tribal stage .. hah :D , and then civ stage is .. almost like civ :p and now in space stage I'm playing a small space game. Did not finish space stage yet (ya know, fill the progress bar running on the bottom), strated a new game to create another kind of creature.

Pretty cool that you can also design the vehicles, buildings and spaceship needed in the different stages. You can also just grab something from maxis or what other players created if you don't wanna make your own.
