Yeah, right next to the cinema.
Edible food for a start....I’m amazed at the vitriol aimed at the Spur. Maybe it’s because I’m from overseas and there is nothing of this type that is affordable, but I genuinely don’t think you realise what a great institution you have on your hands.
I do wonder what kind of quality the people who have a pop at the place are used to?
I don't "hate" the place...that word is not applicable.I just don’t understand the hate I’m afraid.
What kind of person gets offended by schit like this?? Get a life...And... What kind of idiot would post an article that sits behind a stupid pay wall in a public forum? Retards everywhere honestly!
Maybe read the menu...Jir, I went there once, probaly late 90's. Ordered a burger, thought it's the safest meal to buy (seeing that I'm 'vol kak' with food). Jissis, it came with blue cheese. Needles to say, I left there hungry, only with beer in my belly.
R60 isn't cheap anymore, used to be R19 about 8 years ago, used to take my son often to Spur.Restaurant. R60 for a brekkie. Cheap as chips. Went there this morning walking past people in these expensive bistro's having poached eggs for much more.
They stopped that about 3 years ago.Do they still have the bottomless coffe in your neck of the woods? Don't have it here, anymore.
You're only 5 years old?? The R29 breakfast was about 5/6 years agoNo like a gay friend said the two most important things in life is great coffee and a great bed to sleep on since you'll be sleeping for 1/3rd of your life. I've had a DeLonghi coffee machine which I'll replace soon and I only sleep on proper Cloud Nine beds.
Yeah no that was before I was born probably.
Rough morning? What kind of person gets offended by schit like this?? Get a life...
One of the founders of Nandos is Portuguese.Nando’s seem to have managed fine with a bit of Portuguese appropriation.
Spur did try in the UK (complete with Red Indian logos), and weren’t that bad, always seemed full but still ended up closing down.

Nah they don't have them beat in my area, the 2 Spurs close to me still have pappachinos beat on playgrounds and pappachinos isn't cheap either. Yeah the food is marginally better. But until they get a full sized jet in their playground a lot of kids won't go back.Pappacino's has them beat on that. Great food at reasonable pricing with good entertainment areas for the kids.
I don't "hate" the place...that word is not applicable.
Their food is just inedible and extremely expensive.
Two quite good reasons not to eat there I would say...
Edible food for a start....
There are LITERALLY 1 000's of places in the Western Cape alone, that serve better food at the same or cheaper price.
Which ones are those then? There are about 4700 restaurants in the western cape according to Tripadvisor. My wife’s places is one of the top ones. I know what good food is and although the Spur isn’t going to win any awards, it’s good honest food at a decent price I reckon. Certainly not inedible.
Hahahaha, oh dear. Here we go......the inevitable direction of ANY online argument. If they were true perhaps. But R70 for a burger with chips and onions is hardly expensive, and as for inedible, clearly emotional nonsense.
Like who gives a fu.. Are people so bored that they get offended by such stupid things. Get a life sensitive scum

Tsek you too mother f
Try and follow the breadcrumbs...Rough morning?
Where did I say it is expensive??If they were true perhaps. But R70 for a burger with chips and onions is hardly expensive, and as for inedible, clearly emotional nonsense.
It's more like predictable mediocre quality food priced at a premium. Personally I find Spur to be sub-mediocre.There are about 4700 restaurants in the western cape according to Tripadvisor. My wife’s places is one of the top ones. I know what good food is and although the Spur isn’t going to win any awards, it’s good honest food at a decent price I reckon. Certainly not inedible.
