Suggestions for a new car

When you say new do you mean as in you will be the 1st owner?

If not, why not look for a good secondhand Polo if you were happy with VW. I am sure the 1.2TSi engines will be more fuel efficient than the 1.6.
But then again, looking secondhand will open up way more and nicer options.

Maybe look at 1.2TSI highline from previous generation.
 
Look for a sub 10 000 km demo and make sure it is a diesel. Stay away from cars made in India - and that includes some Suzuki models.
 
brand new mg3 hatch, awesome little car.
probably get it for about 145k then pay another 10k in for a decent sunroof.

plus some cash to spare. go for a test drive

Google bud?, I remember when I got my mg6 they wanted to give me a brand new 2015 model for 180k.

but I have never bought new so I went for a demo with 45 000kms on the clock and they settled my previous love. :)

Wife is in the market for a small hatchback for business use. She is very interested in the Mazda2 1.5d Auto.

Just over R 200k and gives a figure of 4.4l / 100km
 
From experience I've learned not to buy brand new. Go for a demo model or a very low mileage model. You'll save quite a bit.

MG left the country a while back.
 
Is a demo still a better deal when you could have negotiated discount on a new model?
 
I would second the opinion of the Corsa (new shape) for a demo. You’ll get low mileage ones for under R200k we had one and it’s a great little car. Engine and built quality were great. The 2016 onwards models also have things like Apple car play/ android auto. You won’t find that on most cheaper cars.

Yes, they still have the MG logo's up but they don't sell new MG's anymore - CMH was the distributor for the MG brand and they stopped importing them.
