Hey all,

So upgraded my ADSL from 384 to 1mb with the aim of streaming some live sport from Super Sport. With the price drop and speed upgrade it just seemed like the right time to do it. Now I am thinking of getting uncapped from Mweb but just having a look at the feedback thread its a lot of info to filter. Basically would like to do the following.

FPS like BFBC2 and BF3 later this year

Stream live SS for rugby

Download some torrents and nntp maybe 30-->50gigs per month?

What do you guys think, would Mweb meet those requirements or am I wasting my time?

Afternoon Scooby_Doo, I could arrange a call back from one of our sales consultants to assist you in finding the Ideal MWEB product to suite your needs. Please let me know if you would like me to arrange the call back.

Kind regards, MWEB Guy

I have a buddy who has the 1mb plan and he streams SS, plays games and downloads quite ok.

Well mweb currently is in the phase of phasing out torrents and nntp, well not really but if you enjoy slow speeds on both then mweb ain't for you.

I am not sure if SS works on anything but mweb, i will test it tonight and see if openweb works but you should look into openweb gold if possible. The nice thing about openweb gold is they about 5 backbones for you to try, so if one does not work a simple email to the ceo will put you on the next backbone.

Thanks Killa,

Let me know on the SS thing, I have tried it with some Datapro (Vox) accounts and it seems ok. I am just hoping that since Mweb, Dstv and SS are the same company that Mweb will not throttle SS streaming, because that would bite ass if i got it for that (mostly) and it fails.

With regards to Openweb doesn't it become unwieldly to keep asking to change back bones? Is there a nice list of what works on each backbone?

@MWEB Guy

Thanks, I am just going to gauge some responses before I speak to anyone, but i will let you know.

@Mephisto

+1 for Mweb :)

No SS streaming works well with mweb. Streams beautifully. The picture however leaves alot to be desired. Horrific quality

It seems like a pain to change backbones but when you find one that works then it works, with mweb if it doesn't work well you have no other option. Stuck with them for 2 months swearing and going on about their heavy throttling/shaping whatever it's called now. For SS streaming it works wonderfully, i will test openweb quick on the SS website. Works fine on openweb.

Thanks, yeah the SS quality on streaming is k@k but when you don't have DSTV its better than nothing. Let me throw Openweb into the mix and have a look see what they are offering.

Be warned openweb gold or gold plus only. Do not buy the cheaper uncapped accounts.
