Surname changed without consent

Yes I think so. It's home affairs cbd so that's probably why!!

Definitely try a different branch, some are just corrupt and broken.

Same happened to my wife. This is actually a broader issue because DHA seems to assume ALL women must have their surnames changed on marriage regardless of what option you select

Which is not right. I'm sure its illegal to change it without consent.

I was just wondering if you can apply for your new smart card id and revert back to your maiden name while doing so. Can this be done on the e services on their website?

My wife experienced the same thing. We were married for a few years already and upon renewal of her passport, she was informed that she had my surname, even though she elected to keep her maiden name. Apparently that's just how the system works.

All it took was for her to complete a one page document to request that her surname be changed back. No costs needed to be incurred. This was around three or four years ago.

Same thing happened with us.
