Hello All,

More and more often lately Neotel's Dataflex service is down for international sites and in some cases consumers are reporting no connection at all.

In the Highveld area in Centurion this has become an almost daily occurrence and everyone I have spoken with that has a Neotel account, has had some issues with connectivity, account payments and/or non-existent arrears.

Considering that the Dataflex service is aimed at small businesses which are often dependent on connectivity, this is affecting a number of bottom lines.

I am a consumer journalist and am planning a series of articles and a possible television investigation to focus attention on these issues at Neotel. In order for these articles to have the maximum impact I need to hear from as many Neotel clients as possible. I have seen many disgruntled ones on this forum.

Please reply to this post and I will contact you via the internal messaging system. State the nature of the problem you are experiencing and where you use their service from.

If consumers band together perhaps the company will be more inclined to sit up and take notice.

For the sake of fairness if you are completely happy with your Neotel service mention that as well. The ratio of compliments to complaints should be telling in itself.

Regards,
Leoni Kok

um, have you tried searching the forum for neotel? there's pretty much a whole database of complaints?

I am an ex client and still having problems with Neotel in trying to even get a refund for money that was removed from my account after my cancellation.

I will be more than happy to talk with you.
PM me for contact details

I have searched the forum and that is why I have posted this thread. There are a number of complaints about Neotel, but none of them are detailed. What service is being used, i.e. Neoflex Lite, Neoflex Data, etc. What city and suburb the connection is being made from etc.

I have a limited amount of time to do research and the more recent and detailed the reported complaint the better. So I am asking for help here.

@Yuna - good idea. You will definitely get lots of support for this from the myBB community.

I think most people here already know how badly Neotel sucks, and those that were unfortunate enough to join, have probably already left, or are trying to. So there are probably less people here with Neotel problems, as they already know to stay far away.

Good luck, and please stick it Neotel! We support you!

Im having major problems in the PTA North area , ill help Mp me what details u need.

Currently my only three issues are:

1. I'm still waiting on a refund of roughly R500 (small amount I know but it's the principle behind it) from when their data recording software was recording 25% more than was actually being used by the consumer. This has been ongoing since I started my contract with Neotel (over-recording was solved in February 2009) and I was told I'd get a refund in June 2009. This never happened and attempts to speak to anyone in this regard have failed. I have since given up.

2. My avg speed is no more than 35Kb/s (280kbps). This is below their advertised speed of 300kbps - 700kbps. There are signs though that this is being sorted out as I'm occasionally getting roughly 100Kb/s (800kbps) at times, but this has only started occurring since November last year.

3. Disconnects/no service. I have slowly, but surely, started being plagued by disconnects/no service. And now onto point 4...

4. I cannot get anything done through their call center. I could write an essay about my experiences with their call center and have to find myself another A4 pad. Not a single issue I have given to their call center (when I've managed to get through to them) has been resolved.

Feel free to contact me via PM about any of the above.

Having cancelled in December, I don't know if my issues will still be relevant, nut feel free to contact me via PM. Issues included billing, faulty device, data usage and sharing of personal information to other neotel users.

Sent a story suggestion to Carte Blanche! Everyone must know about Neotel utter *** service.

Neotel is K@K. If you want more info PM me, but basically its slow and unreliable to the point where it is is IMPOSSIBLE to use for a business. If you run a business and are thinking of Neotel, then I suggest you post your CV at careerjunction now, because you business will fail :D

I have detailed connection logs for the last month (including all disconnects :) )

PM me if that will help...

Issues are:
1) Persistent disconnects to the point where the connection is unusable.
2) When it does connect - slow speeds
3) Useless customer support

Sorry I cannot comment as Neotel does not provide residential services in Port Elizabeth!

Not a bad thing that.

Yeah, consider yourself saved. I waited for about a year for Neotel to roll out to my area. I needed a telephone and internet at home. Eventually I got fed up, and just went the Telkom route. 2 weeks later Neotel rolled out coverage in my area. I was really pissed at the timing initially, but now I don't regret it, and know that I was saved by a higher power.

Hi Leonie.

Thanks for taking time on the phone today.

They have started to take serious note and focus on the service delivery of the organization, and yes, rather late than never.
But its a time conscious implementation that doesn't occur with immediate results unfortunately.

Will definately be out by you this week, i need that PN (guessing it may be the same as VMS's) and then i'll see versus the performance report if an additional channel might alleviate your probs.

Will be in contact Wednesday again

Hugo

PS. To Hugo,

This isn't personal, although I am one of Neotel's clients and my experience has been nothing short of the twilight zone, the consistency with which everyone I have spoken with complains about Neotel's connectivity and service, makes this an issue that concerns a large Neotel consumer base and these issues need to be aired in the media.

Essential and large service providers simply can't be allowed to get away with the kind of service Neotel is currently and unfortunately notorious for.

As for working out my problem, I am still waiting for the tech I was promised 3 days ago. Meanwhile my internet connection was down virtually all day yesterday and for the past three months the only consistency in the Dataflex connection has been high unreliability.

I fear I completely have to agree with Conradl that the Neotel Dataflex service is not suited for businesses which require reliable internet access. I am an independent journalist and producer. I have lost two contracts thanks to not being able to deliver scripts, video and other material on time.

Professionalism aside, my personal feeling is that mass legal action should be taken against Neotel for breach of contract and misrepresentation to the public. Neotel charges for a full data service each month, but when it comes to delivering the service it is only available 50-70% of the time. That is not nearly good enough.

Regarding approaching Carte Blanche, this is exactly what I am doing this research for.

A final word, if I am slow at responding to all the posts in this thread it is because I can’t connect to the web to do so.
