Hi Guys,

Can someone pls help me with the "Must have" stats for tanking?

So far I know def. cap is 541 (This i have)

I'm in dire need of the Avoidance (Dodge) and Block figures
Mine is currently hanging around 15% - 18% Dodge/Parry/Block (Those 3 range between 15- 18% each)

I'm struggling to get the correct details for the above stats, help will be appreciated :)
 
depends m8,

defense is 540 min for raiding over that you start getting diminishing returns

i am mainly avoidance, with 25% dodge, and 16% parry, and 25% block

I find myself dodging and block alot of damage, also your talent build can be a good choice.

True, I took one from Wiki, think it's 00/59/12 (Not to sure)

I only started to farm gear this weekend and did a few heroics, in total I got 19 badges (Bought the neck) and 23 more on Sunday (Want to get the Belt today at 28 badges) so I downed 42 bossed this weekend :eek:

My gear is still crap but you can maybe view my talent build on Armoury light?

Def cap is 540+ for raiding

Each point over is 0.1% to Block, Dodge, Parry and Miss without diminishing returns

Block cap is basically the point where you do not take a straight hit, it's a combiniation of dodge, miss, parry and block that needs to equal to 102.4%. Now with a pala this is never attainable without having holy shield up, so in tbc you used to be crushable for ~1gcd out of every HS cooldown, but they have extended the duration to exceed the cooldown so it is no longer the case

Pop holy shield and run this script it will tell you what your total avoidance is

On my tankadin am sitting at about 100.37% with hs up, finding that keeping block capped is a bit of a pain in the posterior, keep juggling stuff to try keep my stam high, esp since we don't always raid with a priest

Holy shield forms part of the 969696 rotation so it should never be a problem to keep it up all the time

on a side note i don't like the 0/59/x talent spec, spec'ing right down into PoJ is not worth it tbh. with the spec i have you will achieve maximum threat, coupled with vindication you can reduce the targets attack power by 500 odd

If I get this right, it means that combined my Dodge, Parry and Block should be close to 71% combined. As Holy shiled gives 30%

Which means I'm then about 30% shy still :eek:
 
looks like they nerfing righteous fury in 3.2.2 reducing threat from 90% to 80%

But they changed the SP gains so it's not really a problem. I don't have any aggro problems what so ever :o I think that change is prob just getting rid of the 10% extra threat which is not needed?

The way I pull aggro as a fire-mage these days.."more threat is always needed" = QFT.
DK's cant hold threat for crap on trash lately, heres hoping pallies dont go the same way.
 
I found something very interresting yesterday.

When I has 22k HP people never wanted to group with me as a Tank. I'm now on 28/29k Selfbuffed and get groups easy. But Now I feel like I have almost to much HP for heroics :D I just feel that buffing up my Stamina at the cost of other things just to get groups is damn sad.

I ran through HoL hc (which is pretty insane) and Got just about every achievement in there without even anyone in the group dying once......

In the begin focus mainly on getting dodge and block. With the changes to block it should be pretty easy to get your dodge up. After you get the belt for the helm and chest and then get the bracers from the slightly older badges.

With that you should be a decent tank for VOA / OS / Nax 25.

If tanks need 30K HP for heroics then DPS needs to top 3K.
It's lazy to demand that tanks overgear heroics, but people are lazy, and i suppose the biggest lynchpin in a heroic is the tank. You can get by with lousy dps and even lousy heals, but a lousy tank means wipe after wipe after wipe.
