TCL TVs

I managed to get to this screen. The reboot did nothing, same as the reboot through the normal menu functions. Not brave enough to fiddle with the rest of those options. Certainly not whilst there is still a guarantee on the set.

Maybe turn off the auto-update
I've been following a few UK/EU forums regarding updates, at times the TV's initial firmware version is the best, and the latest just fixes a few things and breaks a few others.

Might advise that you check which version it came out with, and compare it to what's on the TV currently, might be an update that screwed you over there.
That's interesting I got a 55C655 the other day and it was great out the box, it did update and I do feel like its not as great since.
Can't really nail down what it is though.

It's also weird that the Google TV installed is just not the same as the chromecast. I'm not sure why either. Some features are just not there.

In System/About tried a factory reset
I'll give it a try. Was hoping not to have to do that. Adjusting all the settings and pairing the sound bar again does not fill me with joy. But I guess it's just a mindset thing. If I convince myself that TCL took away the current TV and left a new one here I'd have to do that anyway. Going to take a lot of whiskey to convince myself of that one by which time I'll be pretty incompetent!!

Yep - or even probably going to be the 1st thing the service people will do or get you to do anyway, might save some time waiting on chasing them.

In power & energy/screenless service, maybe that one worth a try 1st.

Will do that.
Will a factory reset not delete logs that the tech may want to look at?

No idea, but if it doesn't fix the issue those logs will write again anyway if they are writing something.
Could it also perhaps be the remote losing bluetooth connection? try unpair/re pair, batts are showing good % in that menu.

Remote works fine for everything else though. Plus the fact that the TV "resets" when power is removed and restored.

Oh yes of course. Kind of wicked seeing this on a TV.

This seems to work. What I don't know is whether the sound bar is the one sending the signal to switch on or not. The sound bar will auto-off after about a minute if no signal from the TV. Will have to test that a bit later. Thanks for the advice so far, much appreciated.

Some headway, sounds good - mine's set on by default.

Have to admit
While the Apple TV looks better; menu and colors
I think the Android TV feels better. In app navigation is simpler, snappy like the apple tv as well, but I don’t know what it is, it just seems better.

What i’m getting at is, this OS is simply ideal to TV enjoyment, VIDAA and whatever Samsung has, can learn and adapt

So an update on my issue. I finally received a call from TCL yesterday to confirm that a technician would be coming around today. As luck would have it it's a WFH day for me. He duly arrived at 2pm for a visit that lasted less than 10 minutes. Upshot is that there is a problem with the main board. He will lodge the paperwork and then they"ll decide whether to fix (if parts are available" or replace. Let's see how long this will take.

I am of the opinion that this first part of the process should not have taken this long to action. Hoping for slightly more energetic service going forward.

PS, the lad was wearing a Samsung shirt.

Hmm trying to search the web for this info but can’t land anything tangible

It seems we have two C755 models, one with a dedicated built in sub on the back of the TV and one model without it?

Gents with the C755, does your model have a built in subwoofer?

No sub on the SA spec. I also searched for this info before buying and could only find the details by looking at a few retailer sites like incredible connection, hifi-corp, Flipkart.

Yes, India also gets the under specced model.

Seems to be a selected few countries yeah. Only difference being no built in subwoofer
Whats odd is, the C655 does have it?

Probably a tactic to keep cost down on these units in local markets?

Soon the 85” will be the new 65”

Considering a few years ago if you heard someone had a 65” tv, you’d much rather watch the Saturday game at their place.

Now, a 65” is still not a small TV at all. But the pricing on the 85” TV’s are becoming reasonable

My dad is shopping around for a 85” as well, and quite surprised that they’re costing around the same mark compared to his 75” he bought 3 years ago.
