TrueAlso, TCL has Google TV and Hisense is Vidaa if that matters to you.
The c755 you’re referring isn’t the same modelWhy does South Africa only have the 65" C855?? We're forced to buy the 2013 model 85" C755 if we want mini-LED. I don't want to go Hisense again with the U7 mini-LED.
Google TV on its own can nearly buy over a bunch of people. I don’t miss Vidaa, terrible OS.Also, TCL has Google TV and Hisense is Vidaa if that matters to you.
Bloom? As generally setting local dimming to high gives more bloomForgot to add
Local dimming and contrast set to high, damn do the blacks get inky!
Little bloom here and thereBloom? As generally setting local dimming to high gives more bloom
That is pretty impressive, though 880 local dimming will do thatLittle bloom here and there
Nothing serious, was quite impressed how it controlled the blooming, but it does have 880+- dimming zones, so they seem to be well controlled
Waayy less than my Hisense, to the point that im impressed
Great stuff and glad you got your rugby balls to become oneStory time
My 85” TCL C755/805/QM7 is something amazing
Coming from the Hisense 65Q8600, this isn’t only an upgrade in the size department, but visually by far. I knew the Hisense had good visuals, but heck, never knew what these new bad boys could do.
Setting up the TCL 85” is of course a 2 man (or wife) job. It’s heavy! 56kg gross and TV itself felt like 35-45kg’s
TCL was NOT shy to protect your new panel, it’s wrapped all over, spent 15-20mins to remove all the panel tape and protection. So while it was irritating, I do thank them for the effort.
Your setup is quick, I would say no more than 5mins and you’re ready to start using google tv.
Now I knew 85” is hell a lot bigger than 65”, but looking at them in the shops compared to sitting in your living room is vastly different. It felt to big in the room, but, 2 days later i’m thinking bring on that 98”
So dont worry, you get used to it very quickly.
Don’t worry about 4K, heck, even 1080p, at 3.5m to 5m you wont spot anything. Yes, it does have a lower ppi, but again, at that seating distance there’s no worry.
720p still looked ok (Dstv Discovery and BBC channel)
Settings, you have to go play around, everyone likes a different look. I always liked a cooler feel, but with Mini LED and peak brightness of 1500 (probably more around 1300 in real world) it pops the warm preset. Reds stand out, blue’s ate deep, skin tones look natural, without losing details.
So rest assured, movies look amazing, YouTube as well. Peak brightness in some scenes have this 10% peak brightness spot, ex. The sun coming through the woods, if you directly look at that spot it actually makes you squint your eyes because it goes that bright. Again play with the settings, there’s so much to tweak
Sports come to life, the colors are great!!
If you hate ghosting in these new TV’s when it comes to sports, turn off judder and blur!
I couldn’t get rid off the multi ball, ghosting effect, playing around with judder et c. Just didn’t remove it, when it did, maxing everything, I had artefacts and a soap opera effect, nee kak. So, switching motion off completely and then switching the refresh rate setting to performance mode did the trick, golf balls were not ghosting, rugby balls became one and not 3, it looked quite normal again without clipping the image, something I noticed my Hisense did, and the new ones at the stores. Nothing weird was noticed anymore and the panel was keeping up with fast paced sports and had this amazing color and depth, as well brightness.
Clarity, sit af, turn off, all these do is try and smooth out lower resolution images, but robs you of the image quality and detail. I don’t need it as everything seems to be upscaled without issues, 1080p especially.

Happy to answer any questions if you’re concerned or curious before buying
But, I can honestly say, well done TCL, i have cons, but the pro’s outweigh them.
Note: 3 year warranty on these TV’s, and 6 month return and replaced, or money back. ( If I understand the warranty correctly)
Note1.1 : Turn off power saving mode in settings, it caps the brightness and the TV at times feels dimmer than it should.
Or... they ditch "smart" at allI'm an Apple fan, as many know.
But the Google TV on my TCL blows the socks off anything else from Hisense and friends. It just works, and it works well.
I don't know why more TV's ditch their own OS/bloatware and just stick Google TV on them from the factory.
So far my TCL is doing fine, it spends 99% of its life connected to my GPU playing Black Ops 6 lol.
True.. would be nice to get a mix i guess. Also would be nice to have one with "no tuner" hehOr... they ditch "smart" at all
