TCL TVs

Anyone have an opinion on TCL's 85" range?

Seems like my Samsung Q7FN 65" has had enough and I'm not in the mood to get it repaired after all these years.

Sony signs definitive agreement with TCL for Bravia TVs

Back in January, Sony and TCL announced the intention to form a joint venture in TVs and home audio equipment, of which TCL would hold a controlling 51% stake. Today, the two companies have signed a definitive agreement for this strategic partnership.

Under this legally binding agreement, Sony will establish a wholly owned subsidiary to assume its home entertainment business, and TCL will subscribe to a portion of this company's shares, with TCL holding 51% and Sony holding 49% of the shares.

The new company will succeed Sony's home entertainment business, including product development and design, manufacturing, sales and logistics, and customer service for Bravia TVs, business-to-business flat panel displays and LED displays, projectors, and home audio equipment such as home theater systems and audio components. The new company will operate this integrated business globally.

About to see how service goes with these guys, 55C755 brought November 2024 , decided to turn off & has no power now.
Brought thru HiFi Corp, dropped it off there today.
Guessing power board unless it has a fuse on it.

Family is looking at getting a new tv.
Their budget is R15k ideally 65”.

Was originally looking at the TCL 65” C6K but found this.

What do you guys think?

I’ve placed an order for this via tcl’s direct store on Amazon can’t confirm when it will be in stock.

Looking elsewhere online.

There’s only one store that I haven’t heard from who apparently has stock.

They aren’t sports fans but the occasional rugby game and braai with friends and family is to be expected.

Make sure before you sign for delivery you confirm it’s the right TV. Had the same issue where I bought a C6K and got a lower tier TV. Took a month to get my refund from Amazon as purchases over a certain amount need specific approvals.

That time I didn’t even sign for delivery and it was marked as undelivered on Amazon.

I don’t know if they’re even going to process my order.

Perhaps I should look at something else.

Any other recommendations guys?

Hopefully it’s not a C655 lol.

Hi all in the market for a new TV atm. Budget is R10k max. Was looking at the Samsung QN1EF

but after research everyone said go for TCL rather. Came across the below

which I found for cheaper on Tafelberg

Thoughts on the TCL 55C6K? 55' is the max size I'll go for my lounge. I'll be hooking it up to an Android TV box (until the new Apple TV is released) and a JBL soundbar.

You won't need the android box, everything runs great just installed on the main OS.
There was around the 55C755 but they seem to have dried up & now what seems to be the lower specced C6K maybe its ok but the C755 if you can find one seems to be a little better in specs compare.
I have the C755 - happy with it other than the power supply blowing up the other day.

Takelot delivered a lawnmower to my place today, so they came with a truck.

Inside was an 85" TCL TV out for delivery. Massive thing.

I wish this model was available in a 75" I would have taken it in a heartbeat.

I assume you hooking up an Atmos enabled soundbar to make use of that Onkyo decoding?

Will be hooked up to a JBL 510 so not Dolby Atmos. If I do buy the TV will see what sound quality is like and take it from there.

I currently have Logitech Z323 speakers plugged into my Samsung J5200 so both will be an upgrade.

if you are only going to run DSTV and Netflix and maybe Prime and youtube then sure all that will run fine off the TV but connect up a hard drive to the TV and try to play 4k content from the drive onto an app like KODI ..... actually even install KODI and a skin and you will see that the TV box is compulsory with any TV and not optional

the CPU, GPU, RAM and storage onboard the TV will be suboptimal but if you only need the TV for that specific narrow range of tasks of only streaming from the standard subscription services then sure stick to just the TV
