Telkom 1TB Feedback Thread

I've noticed that my ping increases when I switch to the unrestricted APN, so a bit of a catch-22 as I do game occasionally, but I also want to open up some ports.

With the original uncapped lte deal I used to get 50mb minimum up to 100mb, but more importantly for me the ping was great and stable. It is now unstable and a CS:GO game continually cycles from 70 - 95 and the loss is between 0% - 5%. Speedtest also shows consistent jitter. This makes it really painful to play CS:GO.

Was the original uncapped LTE deal also limited to 1800Mhz and 2300Mhz?

As far as I understand Telkom uses TDD (not FDD) and apparently TDD has lower upload speeds compared to FDD.

Yup exactly the same frequencies as this current deal. TDD does have the lower upload but seems to have a consistently higher download.

I wanted to replace my unstable 40mb vdsl line with this but unfortunately the ping is worse and more erratic.

I'll have to test CSGO a bit.
 
I think there is an exchange problem. Did a tracert various times and the 2nd hop always fails. Does the same on my home vdsl line and on my office vdsl line. VDSL was tested on both afrihost and vox accounts.

All hops work on a Vodacom sim though.

Same thing happens at the office and it's been happening for ages.
 
@EnT@nGleD maybe consider getting a smaller package of mtn data from afrihost like 30/30gb specifically for gaming. i also get erratic ping on telkom but ill be using the 1tb for streaming and updates. i have a separate afrihost mtn package and use it mostly for gaming...normally under 40ms ping in cs go and under 60ms in warzone. although i do get around 0-5% packet loss during peak times ping stays low though most of the time.
 
Okay, so obviously only got 300GB pro-rata for the previous month, didn't use all of it.

It carries over so still a good chunk of data to go through before I start touching this month's quota.

damn so how much data will get carried over

not many people will use the full tb and thats where telkom will score little money

same like mine, i got like 270GB to use the last week and started the new month with 130GB. On average we use about 15-25GB per day

Yes, don't agree either.
I would definitely buy this if I could, but financially I can't at this time.
I'm not an online gamer and this would be perfect for streaming services.
DSTV Now chows into my data.
With this it would be perfect.
 
i got 14.5GB carried over . . .only activated today, but signed up last week.
