Telkom ADSL pricing unpacked

September joked that one should think of a phrase like “best broadband for half your rand
he and old moo ivy is smoking the same stuff, gravy train fat cats, like most of the government

As sad as it is, there isn't a product out there that gives the consistency and cost of their wired ADSL no matter how vrot and expensive it is. They know full well they don't have to put effort in just yet...

Maybe someone should cut "President September's" 20Mb line for a month and give him a 384line.... maybe he will then realise just how wonderful the service is on our side of the gravy train.

I think telkom does not know what COMPETITIVE is. Just like Pres. Mbeki not knowing what CRISIS is.

He thought that they meant a game CRYSIS.

Ah, I see this year Telkom isn't even going to us the KY. Joe public please bend over just a little bit more.

"September added that the company’s price points are always under review"

Getting as boring as 3D Realms's, Duke Nukem "When It's Done"

Nzeku said that “…if you look over the whole weighted basket they do not seem to be way out of line with our provisioning on a cost perspective.” September added that the company’s price points are always under review but that he believes that the company’s ADSL prices are competitive.

Absolute bull:sick:.

Guys Gals this is GOOD.
Let them be stubborn. Let them be as they always are.
Sooon they wil be outpaced and outrun.
And if all goes well Telkom will be forced to follow for a change instead of dictating.

Not that I like Telkom or anything, but anybody who realistically thinks that HSDPA competes with ADSL is smoking their socks. I've been using it for a year and speeds are very inconsistent. I used to have a 192 ADSL line and I'd much rather go back to that. ADSL really is the best value for money currently.

Achmed: "Location, location, location." :D

It is however not entirely clear how Nzeko and September equate Telkom's ADSL pricing to Neotel’s pricing.

Neotel’s flagship product, NeoConnect Prime, provides users with 5GB of monthly Internet usage with speeds of up to 2.4Mbps, 1 000 Neotel-to-Neotel voice minutes, 15 free local and regional off-net Telkom calls, 50 Neotel-to-Neotel SMSes and a CDMA device for R499 a month.

Telkom’s Do Broadband Level 3 Closer offering, offering 3GB of monthly usage at peak speeds of 4Mbps, free callmore calls and 1 000 free on-net minutes is priced at R 854 a month.

Still most ppl prefer adsl... sure vodacom 'can be faster', but its not the preferred connection when you want a solid connection. anybody who say adsl is crap and hsdpa or neotel is better, u have no idea what u talking about. nothing compares to adsl at the moment. i dont blame telkom at all for not reducing their prices

Achmed: "Location, location, location." :D

when 3g just came out on trial basis i stayed in one of the trial areas, assuming then i now have one of the best signals around the country or like u say best "locations" for hsdpa, i still would rather use adsl to any hsdpa. u dont get a solid connection 24 hours a day with hsdpa even if u park ur campmaster chair under the tower. adsl resets every 12 hours, but within a few seconds its back on again and u wont have problems or slow speeds. get adsl and see why they have almost 500000 customers :)

Yip, I know. We use HSDPA here at work, shared between 5 ppl. The first year was great... the last 6 months, not so great. Most of us are back on dial-up for the time being, until VC can hopefully sort us out

All those speed comparisons are totally irrelevant in the context of the SA market!!!

Given the CAPPING restrictions does any consumer really give a continental if they can down/upload at 512/1024 or upwards.. all it means is that their precious CAPPED allocation will go faster PERIOD

So Mr. September next time when you get a public address statement to read... try using your head to think what you actually reading.

As parting note Mr. September I will leave you with this thought:

Have a nice BIG cup of shut a frak up!
Think before you say something stupid.
