Hey everyone, so here is the problem.
I signed up for internet through Crystal Web. I asked the owner of the flat from whom I was renting for the tel number, which he supplied. After the service was activated and line migrated, there was still no connectivity. Turns out it was and old number, for another property down the road. He does not recall the number of the place I am living now.

How can I get the tel number of that apartment if the owner is not able to assist. Telkom can only check via numbers and not physical address. (or so they say).

Any help would be appreciated.

You will probably have to get a Telkom tech out to test the line, make sure it is still connected, and then he can check what the number is. It's gonna cost you a call out fee though.

Hi, should have also mentioned that I plugged in a land line, and there is no dial-tone. So the line is not active. But if I can confirm the number, the line can be reactivated and migrated correctly/successfully.

Look on the bill for the number ...

Sounds like you only signed up for the adsl portion and there is no line service.

If it's not active then there is no number. It will be allocated a new number when the service is 'installed'. You're assuming that because there is physical copper & a wall jack present that there must be a number associated with it which is not the case.

If you applied using a tel number for the property down the road then the service would have been provided on that number, you just made somebody happy :D

If you have ring tone, dial 101999. Write down the number...

Oops, just saw your post.

EDIT: if the line is connected to a MSAN or ISAM (VDSL capable) then there's no dial tone when a service is disconnected, so this won't work.

Look up the owner's name in a phone book?

Seriously, just get a tech out.
